Schiano is more cult leader than coach. He has his way with his guys, and the big time kids aren't going to put up with that stuff, just like the NFL guys didn't. He's a good 2nd in command, but can't run the show at a major program. He's a better fit for making a bad team look average-good.

IMO Schiano will not work at the U in 2014 and beyond. It's a different culture today with players in SOFL. Kids used to be happy for opportunity to get the ride and play football. Today, because of big money business, insatiable appetites by fans to win and the decision for the most part has shifted to a 17-18 year old who are in many cases on stage and in control. If you look at Schiano's history at Rutgers and Tampa Bay (1) University will not accept, (2) will have player issues (3) further hurting the program. The University will not work well with Schiano and whether he succeeds or fails, he's gone quickly.

I am just saying, there is a lot riding on the next few days whatever does happen in the end, and for those who think the U is going to simply hire a name thrown around on the board, you have to be kidding yourself. The University has over the years changed their priorities and post NCAA bull ****, they are going to be limited in who they would hire. In the end It's All About the U", its not "All About Canes Football".

Have any recruits talked with Golden as of late?

He is not telling them anything right now, but a couple of them believe he is gone because he hasn't come out and denied it.

He stayed quiet the last time the Penn St. job opened up, and it got him a hefty pay raise. He's doing exactly what Jimbo did, and Frank Beamer has done, and many other coaches - use the fear of another job to get them a raise. Al will sign a new contact for more money, more assistant money, etc. when this is all over.
Lulz at more money and a longer contract. He's done nothing for either. If Blake James caves to such a tactic then this program is officially dead

Every PSU newspaper has him lsited as one of the leading, if not the leading, candidate(s).

Based on reality or that he played there. Like when the Florida job opened and all the experts listed guys that were never in the picture -
- Stoops - coached there
- Strong - coached there
- Coach from Mississippi State
- I think I was even listed because I stopped twice at the same Gainesville Panera to eat and dump and was wearing a coaches shirt.

Is this going to effect any of the early enrollees? What date do early enrollees have to enroll again?

Don't shoot the messenger. It is an absolute certainty that if PUS offers Big Fat Al the job BFA will take it. The only thing holding it up is that they haven't offered. If BFA issues a statement saying he is not interested in that job, then you will know that they never offered. That's why you haven't heard any denials yet from BFA.

He is lobbying for the job and just waiting on PUS's decision. The minute they make the call, he will either accept and head up there immediately, or he will issue the perfunctory "I have no interest in the PUS job. I'm committed to UM." statement and then a day later PUS will announce someone else as their new HC.

Yep. That's how it's going to play out This will be settled on Monday, I believe. It's either Al or someone else right now, that's it. Paterno's group, such as Lavar Arlington, Matt Millen etc... are going to push for him and they've got clout Plus, you don't think D'Onofrio has some influence on his decision. D'Onofrio trying to save himself. The only caveat is Al's wife, which loves Miami. If he's lobbying through Paterno's group, which is most likely, he gets an offer. Then, he must talk with the wife

As driven by CIS:ibisroflmao:

Yeah I'm sure all those newspapers that listed him as a leading candidate before Canesinsight mods posted anything were quoting CIS.

Right, but are they listing him as having interviewed or are they the print version of CIS listing every alumni related to football on their coaching wish list along with the top 3 coaches in the game?

I'm not saying he is staying or going, but I do see a lot of other information floating around about other coaches at other schools and PSU and Miami are not exactly small business, so I expected to hear more.

lol.. "focusing on 9 wins a year".. where do people come up with this stuff...

IIRC, he said in one of his interviews that 9 wins was his "goal". I'm not sure if he meant for this year or for overall, but I remember 9.

If I am misquoting him, I stand corrected. But if I'm not, IMO we should have had at least 10 wins with this easy schedule going into the bowl game.

It's too quiet out there.

And what exactly does this say about our program that our coach would skip town for another CFB job? Just think about that for a sec and really consider it. Imagine Jimmy leaving for anything other than the NFL!!! That, folks, is how far we've fallen.

I dread the new hire.....we are sinking - imo
