Official 2025-2026 Coaching Carousel

Virginia Tech reaching out to try to Shane Beamer would be a huge mistake. Think you’re gonna get some magic from his old man, but you’re not. The program needs to restart from the ground up. Temper their expectations and hire a good coach with a proven record, even if it’s a G5 level school. Not one of these coaches that’s a glorified coordinator, like Golesh, but a program builder.

It is a bold move for him to leave the SEC in South Carolina to go to Virginia Tech, who has an uncertain future conference wise at Best
 
Gonna go ahead and put my early predictions in:

VT: Jamey Chadwell
UCLA: Eric Morris

Both programs have to figure out the offense and get an identity.

Others I could see
VT: Jimbo, Fitzgerald, Vick, Bob Chesney, Dan Mullen, Beamer if USCjr wants to run him off by the end of the year
UCLA: Mullen, GJ Kinne, Kliff Kingsbury

Agree. I would not make that move. But they may make an offer he can't refuse.
 
I don't see Beamer leaving a strongly supported SEC team vs a school in a failing conference. When VT was good they had a lot of talent from Tidewater, Richmond and Balt-DC areas. These days alot of those players are ending up at USCe as well the Big10 and other SEC schools.

Could be mutual parting of ways, if SC loses 4-5 games (they have a pretty tough schedule)

I think they go to Beamer first, Chadwell second, Chesney third. Mullen doesn't recruit enough.

Jimbo is somehow only 59. Does he still want to do this?
 
Chesney is the obvious hire for VT.

Btw are they even gonna have a two deep by the time Miami rolls into town? What good player with other options or any upper classmen is gonna waste a year to finish 2-10 when you just got a get out of jail free card?

May be payback for that year we only had like 45 players in our game against them.

If I were VT, I would do 4 things:

1) Extend their executive airport run way from 3000 to 6500-7000. Work on getting regional service from 1-2 airlines. You may ask why? Getting in/out of Blacksburg is an hour drive to the airport without traffic and 81 has bad traffic at times then you have to connect at one of 3 cities. This is a win on many front including giving them a path forward IF a big2 conference expands. Without it, they are left.

2) Hire a coach that is good to great at talent eval that is at a lower tear program. Give him a strong staff budget. Personally, the north Texas coach would be the type I’d hire.

3) put every other dollar into NIL.

4) hire a new AD

Kliff was my first thought for UCLA as well.
