Got first fly rod there when I was like 8. Nobody knew how to teach me how to throw a fly then so took it back. SMH. Always exciting going there. Saw Star Wars at the theater next to it across from the old Dadeland mall. Cool times
Same here, bro. Again, I haven’t been to HRS since the renno, but to hear the surrounding area is the same, was a bit disappointing. I know my experience(s) at the OB & twice I went to Sun Life Stadium & there was literally no comparison. My frat was at HRS for the ND game in ‘17 & FaceTimed me. I could feel the energy, but it still didn’t feel quite like the OB, and maybe I was being biased b/c he did say the place was rocking. Maybe the OB’s infrastructure w/ its old building material made it much more destructive & rambunctious. Lol.Orange Bowl was special. Hard Rock after renovations is OK, but not in the same league as the OB and it's still just a rental. I hope we get our own stadium some day... either on campus or somewhere in Dade.
I don’t.
This is the part that ****es me off so deeply. Can't believe they tore that **** down for a baseball team that has no fans....
Hard Rock is nice but we have no history there...
I'd only been to 3 games at the Orange Bowl (99 Rutgers, 06 FAMU, 07 NC State) but it was an amazing place and you could feel the history, even though the last time I was there it smelled like ****
58 straight sorta proves your point! Been to plenty of stadiums throughout the country and there are some great environments, but the OB was in a class of its’ own.
HRS 2017 ND was a great atmosphere but the OB was in a class of its own. The 89 ND game was madness from the time John Routh rode the motor scooter pregame to half hour after the game, the old girl was magical. So loud my cugina said they were having problems communicating with coaches in the booth. I don’t think you’ll see anything like the Orange Bowl ever again, it was that special. When the Canes came out thru that smoke in big games it was game on. Saw a good many of the 58 straight, unequalled times.Same here, bro. Regardless, I know it will never happen, but HRS, seeing those aqua seats, and how **** poor our lettering is on the field, doesn’t feel like home. Wish we could get our own 45-55k stadium & use the HRS for the OB games. Wishful thinking, but seeing the old girl in all her glory will always have a special spot for me.
Man; goose bumps just reading this. I miss the OB badly.HRS 2017 ND was a great atmosphere but the OB was in a class of its own.
