To quote Mike Leach:
"There’s nothing balanced about 50% run, 50% pass…that’s just 50% stupid.
Now, what is balanced is when you have five skill positions and all five of them are contributing to the offensive effort in a somewhat equal fashion, and that is balanced. But this notion that if you had it off to this one guy 50% of the time and then you throw it to a combination of these two guys the other 50% of the time, that you’re really balanced then you probably pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that, and people have been doing that for decades. Well, you’re delusional.”
Balance and physicality is what wins in the end...I like Leach and respect him, more than the other pass happy maniacs... But I want nothing to do with his teams that run for 80-120 yards per game 5 out of 6 years. (every now and then he'll have a team that gets up in the 140s, or so...could live with that, but again it's more of an outlier team for him)
50-50 is good by me...60-40 pass is good...250/200 sounds real good. One dimensional is not good either way, and has been proven over and over again
Ask the Big 12 why they beat the SEC 1 out of about every 7-8 games that count.
