OC prediction

Would love Mullens as a play caller but would be scared of his recruiting. It's well known that he's kind of a screwball, wonder if Mario would take him on knowing how much of an emphasis he puts on his staff to recruit. I'd prefer Tom Herman if given the choice but would be fine with either.
Can’t be any worse than Gattis’s recruiting. We need a OC who runs a creative offense. Not worries about recruiting at all.

Wake Forest offensive stats for the first 3 years under Ruggerio scares me:

Year 1: 127th, 14.8 PPG
Year 2: 120th, 17.4 PPG
Year 3: 118th, 20.4 PPG

It took Ruggiero 3 years before they were out of the bottom 10 in offensive scoring.
Wake was one of the worst if not THE worst P5 program for a long while.

Just saying. I’m not really in the Ruggerio camp either. His success may just be tied to Sam Hartman.

We have a staff full of recruiters who are mediocre football coaches. I’m OK if we hire a coordinator who’s more football coach than recruiter.

Besides, Gattis can’t coach or recruit anyone, so anything is an upgrade.

probably one of the best systems in CFB today, up there with Briles and Riley. definitely the most innovative. a true spread-option. ranked Top 20 in YPP each of the last 3 seasons.

Coastal’s offense is a thing of beauty. I would love to see Miami implement something like that. Plus, with the big boy offensive line coming in and a class or two of Miami playmakers, that offense would just hum.

Nobody has brought up that we may want to venture outside the sport of football altogether and maybe pick up a talented coach from another sport and see if their talent translates to football.

Hm, interesting. I bet the curling acquisition department could scheme up a pretty good offensive plan. Or maybe tapping the most innovative Jai Alai mind if we want to go warp speed. That could work!

Candle would need to take a “demotion” to OC from HC, but he would likely bring K. Beard as WR coach and possibly another staff member.

No inside knowledge, but I believe the Candle shipped sailed last year. Such a move from HC to OC is obviously “one step back/two steps forward” type of thinking, but it’s too risky of a career move to hitch your wagon to Mario given our performance this year.

Also, the Longo aspirations seem far fetched and unrealistic. It’s a lateral move (at best) to a division/conference rival. Unlikely.

I’m on the “make it difficult for Tom Herman to say no” bandwagon until the wheels fall off. Then take a stab at Riley and Kittley (in no particular order). All three of those candidates make me giddy.

Outside of those three, I am gonna have to wait for LCE to resurface before getting too excited again.

Mario has had at 3 former OCs (Satterfield, Marcus Arroyo, and Joe Moorhead) go on to be HCs after they were OCs for him.
