Observations from tally

Sorry you had to spend more than 30 seconds in that cesspool of a town

Hate saying it but I was born in Miami and would live in Tallahassee before I would ever go back to Miami and it wouldn't be open for debate.

Makes me wonder what you value. I went to FAMU (undergrad) so Tally has a special spot in my heart. My sis is a professor at FAMU and but for that she'd be gone. Not sure what could be a compelling interest in Tally, unless income (cost of living) is an issue.

The people are a whole lot politer, the drivers are less aggressive, the language is more consistent, the cost of living is lower etc. My son goes to school in Tally so I have spent enough time there to form an opinion that I wouldn't have had otherwise.

Lived in Miami, Tampa, Tallahassee.

The trailer jokes are completely ignorant. Go outside town, you get farms. Outside that, trailers.

That said, Tallahassee is great if you are raising children. I would hate it for those post graduation years though. Absolutely nothing to do for that crowd. Tampa was great for those years. Could be fun for school up here, but I seriously doubt Tallahassee > Miami on that front.

That said, folks up here know their team best. And they scared. They were scared for Louisville bc away and Thursday night. They are legitimately worried about Miami. That says a lot to me bc they weren't worried last season when we were undefeated and ranked seventh.

Their defense is not that good. Their best game defensively was Clemson but that was pre D Watson starting so they didn't respect passing game. Miami is a complete offense. More so than ND or Louisville.

FSU won't be slowed down unless we are aggressive on defense. But I was at FSU game last year and was shocked and confused that our dbs were allowed to play more aggressively then. We called, comparatively, one of our most aggressive game last year against FSU (usf might've been best defensively). I expect the same or more aggression this year.

I'm getting my hopes up

Si no te gusta que comas mierda! MiamiJoe es racista!!!

J/K

I am Latino, 1st generation US citizen, raised in SW Miami Dade and I feel you on a couple of things. 1st, I left Miami a long time ago. I still have a special place in my heart for Miami. I visit, have family and friends there but the area in general is a ******* cess pool IMO. Turned down a job and admission into a graduate program because I refuse to raise my kids down there. I currently live outside of ATL and the pace, life, schools, opportunities etc are much better IMO.

2nd, Unfortunately many individuals who espouse the "English is our language" or "English only" position also have extreme prejudice against anyone bilingual. I understand that English is our official language but we cannot expect people to just give up a major aspect of their cultural heritage (not saying this is you). Also the complete disregard for learning English is just as extreme.

Just expressing my 2 centavos.

English is not our official language. We don't have an official language.

I am white, 59 years old and American. My only problem with Spanish is the people in Miami expect you to speak Spanish and they don't have enough respect for this country to speak English thinking it is a foreign language. I personally taught many Cuban children from the Peter Pan flights English in the mid 60's and have seen where they went from eager to learn and speak English to now considering it an imposition. You can condemn me for this position all you want but my answer to any that do is do you have a Guilty Conscience.

I am native of Coral Gables and a little older than you and understand your point completely. My wife of over 30 years came from Cuba in early 60's. Her father, rest in peace, was a fantastic MD. He spent his last years living with us. He spoke perfect English when I first met him but over the years reverted to Spanish exclusively. Despite the fact that I fed him almost every meal, even before he move in with us, he never really forgave me for not learning Spanish. We both held Doctorates, were devout Catholics, and I took care of him more than his own children, but was dirt because I failed to see the importance of speaking Spanish. That sort of attitude gets a little annoying. On the positive side, Cubans make good roast pork and great coffee. My mother-in-law, RIP, never even bothered to learn English, but always fed me and gave me endless cafe con leche so it didn't bother me that she spoke no English.

I hate Jameis Winston's guts but when push comes to shove in a close game, someone is going to have to want it more than he does. He makes mistakes, but he also makes a ton of plays. We just have to make more.

Everything is right there for the taking. Duke is primed for that one huge game in a huge spot that all of the Cane greats have had. It's his time. The coaches are going to be walking a fine line. Obviously protecting the ball is paramount. We cant lose the turnover battle. But then again, if we play too conservative, FSU still has the playmakers. We cant coach scared, but that hasnt been an issue against FSU IMO.

Other than 2 runs against UL what has cook done for us to be so terrified of him. I know he has elite speed but it hasn't stopped most teams from shutting him down. Maybe he makes a play against us but I am way more concerned with r Greene and Winston killing us.

Also what is the fear with their dline. They have fewer sacks than Miami and they weren't great at aacking the qb last year. Their pressure blitz packages are concern but not the front four IMHO. Edwards jr is basically chickillo. A big slow run stuffing end. Goldman is good. Who else they got?
All true. But Featherston is a really nice pass rusher off the edge. He gets pretty good consistent pressure when he plays.

As for Dalbert, he's not as good as Yearby, and I doubt fsu is ****ing their pants contemplating facing Yearby.

Featherstone looks a little light in the *** and while I agree he's a good to decent pass rusher I would run the ball rught down his ******* throat.

We win this game if we run the ball and control the line of scrimmage. If Kaaya can make a few key plays in the passing game and limit mistakes I expect us to be right in it till the end. I agree with Jhall though, Winston feeds off the pressure late in games, we are going to need to need a big effort to keep him from settling in and picking us apart. If we can limit R. Greene we should be in extremely good shape.

An overly conservative game plan will kill us. Winston is a maggot, but that sociopath will eventually put TD on the board. We will not beat them by trying to go Dean Smith 4 corners and milk the clock. You saw how well that timid approach worked against an inferior Louisville team with all their weapons missing.

On top of that, it sends the message to your team that you're scared and just trying to sneak out with a win. The minute something goes wrong when the players know the coaches are scared everything blows up, and you catch a drubbing.

Empty the guns.

He's light, but most of the great pass rushers are long and lean. He probably won't play a ton on traditional run downs.

As for running the ball, the winner of this game almost always does it by dominating the run game. You absolutely have to get something out of the run game to beat them even if it's not a dominating 300 yards on the ground.

Let's stop the location/language debate and all agree on one thing- Gainesville is the **** of Florida!

While I have watched alot of their games I can't say that feather stone has stuck out to me much. He did against some of the bad teams they faced but not against the good teams. Maybe I missed it. Again to me it's their blitZing that is the concern since we have some young guys out there including Kaaya. In the end they don't really pressure the qb much but I suspect against a true fr qb they will bring heat. The one thing in our favor is their lbs aren't great. They do bring DBS. This game comes down to our d against their O. Plain and simple. We will score but we don't score consistently enough to allow Jameis to march the field. We can't ***** up in this game. For as much as golden and Dorito have stunk over the years, the players have consistently ****ed up as well in big games whether it be bad penalties or turnovers. Can't give them easy scores.

Sad this thread turned into that instead of a nice football conversation. I lived in tallahassee for 5 years and it is a great place to live. Especially for a young family. Anyway, we're going to win.

We can't give up on the run too early, I believe there are yards to be had, but don't expect 6yds a pop against these guys. They may not be playing as well on defense as they did last year, but they still have a ton of talent on that side of the ball. Duke needs to touch the ball 30 times, running and receiving and we must win the TO battle.

Even though we have been better the last couple of weeks on D, I'm still skeptical, I just think their D is going to stop us more than we stop them, Winston is just too **** good.

My concern is our line against their front four. Lets be honest, we haven't played a good defense since probably the Nebraska game. Our Oline will be tested and tested often. Hopefully they can hold up.

Other concern is will Golden stick to the aggressive play calling that we've seen. Its easy to be aggressive against weak opponents. But against the best QB in college football? We will see.

Last concern is our lack of pressure. From the games I've seen of FSU, their Oline seems to be terrible. So we may actually be able to pressure the opposing QB, something we haven't been that good at other than the UNC game I believe.

To be honest, I haven't watched their team closely. But, you're talking about a unit that has multi year starters and they're all seniors. The only challenge they have is that their center is out. Otherwise, guys like Erving, Matias, Hart, are all pretty good. JMO.

Their OL gets blown up in the interior, their C is a redshirt freshman and has been struggling. Getting pressure from the interior of our line has not been a strength of ours though. This game is on the OL and DL, they play well we win, they struggle and its another long evening.
