O Line

We have the number one offense in the country, so we might be doing something right. I get it; this unit isn't as good as last year's. However, people are exaggerating about how bad this Oline is. There isn't a single offensive line unit in the ACC I'd trade with

Everyone is so hyper-focused on this unit, so every mistake they make instantly creates 100 complaints on game day message board

My big question for this team is, how does a Cristobal/Mirabal team in the NIL era miss so bad on the O Line.

The rest of the offense is so good it covers it up to some degree but I can’t help but think this is gonna sink this ship at some point.
How many players were drafted off of last years O line? 3 or 4 transferred out and are starting at other schools. That is college football today.

No, the o line is being covered up. Just watch how much pressure Mensah is under and how often we get hit as soon as the rb hits the line. It’s mostly yards after carry that is working. I’d argue the only guy not out of position is Rodriguez. And still having the number 1 offense only means how good we could be if we had a better line.

Can we borrow your Madden OL?

Easy. We lost 4 starters on the OL and didn’t meaningfully go portal shopping.
I’d argue that their plan didn’t go according to plan. Think they expected the lineup to be different and pivoted when that didn’t become reality. But I also think they shot themselves in the foot by not giving Cantwell more tackle snaps that first month of the year. Who knows where he would be if he had gotten 4 games of tackle snaps

How does it happen? Well I mean their are two starters that portaled out and one current starter is out with Injury.

We can have a perfect team everywhere. Sometimes other positions are stronger then others are years go on.

If this is the worst our OL will look with Cristobal "with his guys" I'm ok with this. They're generally young and I expect minimum 3/5 to return next year, with again a strong RB, WR and QB room, with a stronger TE room.

The OL is "OK". they are strong in the run game, and weaker in pass pro and mainly in excessive movement and confusing fronts, which has a younger OL bound to happened, but hopefully the strength of other areas "covers it up", but that's what good play calling does.

Notre Dame doesn't typically play a lot of games up front, they'll rush the four down with strong coverage in the back, so we'll see our WR v. their DBs or coverage players, which I'll take all day.

I don't see a DL or defensive front in the top teams that is so above our OL that we'll be game wreckers.

The secondary has been more concerning than the OL imo
Really thought the secondary was going to be a strength. Then all the injuries hit. It's more than that, though. My hope is they get better by playoff time. We may miss Scott and Thomas more than Bain and Mesidor.

People being dramatic af. We haven’t even missed on the OL. Who’s OL in the ACC would you take over Miami?
I don’t think people would be concerned with the oline if we just wanted to win the acc
Plenty of contenders with mid OL. OSU got Sayin killed. Manning is always getting lit up. I’m just saying the standard is so high but compared to everyone else in the country we probably still have a top 10-15 OL

ACC is a very low bar, no one here cares for ACC level. We are looking thru championship playoff ready lense.. ACC is G6 level this year fr.. The talent drain and everything makes this a G6 conference. We are only thing above that..

He takes a lot of sacks he doesn’t have to by not taking the easy quick opening routes

Were folks saying this at the beginning of the year? Secondary from a personnel perspective has been fine. Injuries have killed us.

OL, OTOH, was a miss in the portal imo. Outside of Sisi and Samson, the past 3-4 HS recruiting classes have been a question mark. Lot of duds and it's becoming a depth concern this year. Many of us were clamoring for another portal depth piece or 2 but we went elsewhere.

Why do we have to brush off concerns because other teams have flaws? We’re focused on us

Our standards are super high but the oline is flawed and its shown vs mid comp, so people being concerned about it knowing we have a shot at a natty is reasonable
