Notre Dame Opts Out of Bowl Game

I would have been just fine if Miami did the same thing.

These bowl games are not worth the time, money, and effort to prepare for. Teams are going into those things with a skeleton crew. Players looking elsewhere. Players getting ready for the NFL or whatever they are doing next. Coaches looking for their next, especially the assistants. Its an absolute ****show at this point.

We will see the end of these bowl games soon. The players are hundred-thousandaires and millionaires now...they don't want or need the swag bag of branded trash to play in a game no one will watch or attend.

Bowl Season is over. Its a rotting carcass at this point.

While I agree that they’ve become watered down. But its extra practices and let’s be honest the kids do still get great gifts from some and travel to places they’ve never gone.

You go find the bowl with Texas or Vanderbilt and then you beat the living s*** out of them. That's what you do. And when Bama gets boat raced in the first round and you beat Texas by 30 you then go up to the podium and say, "you mother f***ers got it wrong. Don't get it wrong next year". That's how you build respect and that's how you put pressure on the decision makers.

You don't take your ball and go home then make then change the rules so you can't get your feelings hurt next year. And to think I felt bad for these losers.

Yes. That the SEC colluded with ESPN and their talking points to get in 5 SEC teams.

I don’t think bama should be in the playoffs, but it’s been well known that the committee wouldn’t eliminate a team from the top 10 for losing a conference championship game…the committee told us this last year.

But that apparently secret deal to guarantee a top 12 ND a playoff spot? That smacks of favoritism. Even collusion

They got screwed in that they should have been in over bama.

They're probably better than Bama but I have a hard time penalizing a team for an extra conference championship game (against a really good team) on behalf of a team that refuses to join a conference and who can't beat good teams.

The real problem is there isn't any set criteria so a lot of teams feel deserving. BYU got punished for a conference championship but Bama didn't, H2H almost didn't matter but finally did (probably due to outside pressure), it's unclear if big wins matter more than worse losses, etc. It's juat a mess.

To me, ND just doesn't have that good of a case to be mad so I don't feel THAT bad for them. Certainly not enough to be this dramatic and selfish. The committee definitely got their hopes up for no reason though.

I see this no different than how Norvell and FSU acted after being left out. I could see them struggling next year. Not 2-10 but out of playoff contention.

Not with their weak schedule next year. Their schedule next year 9 wins would be an abject failure (this is assuming teams like Michigan St. And Boston College don't make some wild investments in the portal)

Bama deserves it over the two Group of 5 teams. We all know Tulane and James Madison isn't winning this. Nor are they better than Bama, Vandy or Texas.

I would take that tradeoff, lol. In other news, I do feel you guys are playing the best SEC team right away. That being said, I do feel like you are better than any SEC team.

I am Catholic and occasionally root hard for Notre Dame, such as the Penn State and Ohio State, playoff games last year, since I hate the SEC and Big 10 teams more. The only time I despise Notre Dame is when they play us.

You had a great team that truly deserved to be in the playoffs. There is no way Alabama should be the playoffs after losing by three touchdowns and rushing for negative three yards against Georgia. The Bulldogs only scored 16 points and beat GT by one touchdown. At the end of the season GT gave up an average of 40 points to Boston College, NC State and Pittsburgh. Alabama also had a "very bad loss" against Florida State.

I agree that we are both better than the five SEC teams and the two G5 schools. Oregon is likely an imposter as well. The Ducks have struggled against average teams. There was a good chance for a rematch in the playoffs.

Everybody who lost in a conference title game dropped. I think it was the same last year too. Bama got killed and rose. I 100% disagree with you and most of the board on this just like I disagreed with FSU being left out when they lost their QB.

And instead of ND, it well could have been us and every one here taking shots at ND would be singing a different tune had we been bounced for Bama.

I agree. Miami/ND are not enemies in this--I feel for ND because I was mentally prepared to be on the receiving end of this shafting by $ECPN.
