That said, it’s been speculated for the past few year now about a team declining to play in the conference championship game. I don’t think that is in Mario’s DNA, but you can see how it could make sense. A 1-loss Miami with only loss being ND is 100% in. What good does the championship game do us in that scenario?

Thought the committee said last year conference championship game loss dont hurt rankings. But that was for a sec team not Miami or the ACC......

That scenario would be exactly why they shouldn’t count the loss, but why risk it? Conferences championships are gone next year anyways. Who gives a **** about the acc when you are trying to win a natty.
