Notre Dame a 3.5 point favorite (All Miami-ND, Mali News)

Do people in journalism understand that a sprain is when ligament bands partially or fully tear in a joint? The issue is about the grade of the sprain/tear.
Even a bad sprain should only take 4-8 weeks tops...have had more than i can count on both ankles. No, they don't heal 100%, but they get to 90-95% and stay there - ankle sprains (even high) can definitely heal enough to play effectively in a few weeks. Unless it is really, really bad it's hard to see him not back by the ACCCG at the latest.

Now that we’re starting to see the season ending rumors floating about… decades of message board experience tells us we all know how this story ends…
Not sure about season-ending. No idea the exact results of the MRI.

Just hearing what others have relayed. It’s not great. He was definitely playing through something coming into this week anyways. We all saw him limp off in numerous games.

Best case for an effective Toney is playoffs imo. And that’s hoping it’s a 4-5 week recovery timeline (unless we can snag a bye).

I would LOVE to be wrong and he’s out there snagging 8/112/2 TDs Saturday.

I don’t have much faith in playoffs without him is the big concern. Would need to win a toss up in ACC champ. And obviously not drop 2 of last 3

When I was in marine corps OCS, I doing a "boots and utes (uniform)" run and got my foot wedged between tree roots. I went one way my ankle went the other. I've broken plenty of bones but that was the worst pain. Felt like getting shot in the ankle.

Doctors said I had a partial tear in ligaments (grade 2 sprain) that had something to do with stabilizing the ankle. The doctors gave me motrin and said I could go back to training in 3-4 days. They did caution me and said if I feel like my ankle is going to give out, just fall down instead of trying to catch myself or I could end up doing more permanent damage. Military medicine at its finest. But point is, even with a partial tear I was cleared to return to extremely physically punishing training in just 3 days. Football is a different animal of course, but I think it is still possible that even with a slight tear he would be cleared to play

If he’s out for the regular season we’re beating Duke, VT and BC without him. Mensah will answer. Mali getting hurt mid game is way different than prepping knowing he won’t be in.

Wingo and Jacobs are more than capable of shredding ND. Everyone relax. This sets up perfectly. Beating ND in South Bend with our best player taking the day off is such a great story that I consider it fate.
Kinda like when Mario upset Ohio st in the horseshoe with Thibodeaux and a bunch of others out

We will still be 10+ point faves in all three games. Literally just made the Duke line in a meeting; still roughly 14-15 pt faves without Toney.

The issue becomes Wake.

Time for guys to step up and hopefully win the ACC. Not making a run to the natty when you lose half your offense and don’t have a defense

Unleash Wingo

I would still be confident we beat Wake without him but it wouldn’t be easy

Gio has been banged up this year too, as has Hernandez. Their game against SMU next week will be around a 3/4pt opener (Wake -3.5 should pop up shortly).

We’re not a legit title contender if we can’t beat Wake without Toney.
