1) if Mensah shows out with a hobbled or inactive Toney, that’s a clear Heisman defining game right there

2) if Toney can’t play and we lose a close game, how bad can CFP drop us? Would they give us less of a drop knowing we didn’t have Toney?

#2 really doesn't matter. If we lose, no matter what, we're not getting into the playoffs if we don't win the ACC. The ACC isn't getting 2 teams in.

You think no chance a 2-loss Miami (ND + ACCCG) gets in? I would think there is a pretty good chance, depending on how everything else shakes out.

That said, it’s been speculated for the past few year now about a team declining to play in the conference championship game. I don’t think that is in Mario’s DNA, but you can see how it could make sense. A 1-loss Miami with only loss being ND is 100% in. What good does the championship game do us in that scenario?

People need to understand. Dawson’s offense will have a slot that gets open OR someone else will be. That is why Mensah is the key.
