Not crowning but ****

KW was definitely very promising early on, but as I recall he had 2 weaknesses from the start that never improved. Pocket awareness (the self-sack king), and he was great between the 20s but not so much in the red zone.
Correct. Some of that was due to playing behind a terrible ol. I guess people forget but everyone was pumped for KW going into year two. He flashed and we all assumed he’d take the next step in years two.

His supporting cast really took a nose dive in the playmakers dept too….

Kyle will always be looked at in my eyes as a dude who might have been here at the wrong time…

4,837 yards, 39 TD, 13 int

Based on his limited sample size and projected over a 13 game season, that’s his stat line. Go look at the numbers of the Heisman winning QBs over the last 10 or so years. They’re comparable. Can he keep this up?

I would also like to add a play thats pretty much the first big play of the game.

Miami runs a smash concept, with Harley on the outside running a hitch and Smith running a fly behind Harley. Van Dyke sees that Smith might break open but has a corner on his heels, who follows the fly pattern right away. Van Dyke looks to the corner, gives a slight pump fake to fake a throw to the hitch, comes back to the fly and makes a perfect throw. Beyond that it was a perfect throw, Smith got pushed on the route and stumbled a bit, so he wasnt even there where the QB could have expected him.

That was the first third down play we had and it was an indicator of how things would play out.

Fact is Manny was done last week, there’s a reason Blake suddenly came out of his basement and started talking to the media , all but saying he was gone. There was a method to his madness. We’d been 2-5 and 0-3 in conference, there was nothing left to play for. People can view that as message board rumor or bs but it’s true. I posted in Sep that the only way I see it happening during season was miami being eliminated from coastal play or a Clemson like beat down.

Imo the only he could be retained is a deep run to the accg and Mario saying he has zero interest. You don‘t go from being fired go saving your job after two wins.
Looking at the remaining schedules, it’s very possible that Miami wins out and we only need UVA and Pitt to lose 1 more game time win the coastal. UVA and Pitt also play each other. If Miami wins the Coastal and let’s pretend they win the Acc, are we stuck with Manny?

Yes 100% we are…

I saw Kyle Wright look really good early in his career too. Dc’s will see film and make adjustments , great players stay improving and adjusting to the adjustments. It’s too early Imo.
TVD can hit every throw on the field so its really hard to take something away from him.

The way he stands and moves in thebpocket was great too. Pressure was not bothering him at all on a lot of those throws. He would find his guy and get the ball off.

Getting really tough not to crown him yet. There’s so many things he does as a second year freshman who has only started 5 games in his career that senior quarterbacks don’t do as well. Playing behind a bad offensive line with very little help from the run game, he still stays calm and drops dime after dime. I’ll have to re watch the game and count how many of his incomplete passes were actually miss targets. He threw a few away purposely and had a couple of drops. The interception was probably not the best move, he called it “stupid” himself, but that very well could have been a huge play of Harley doesn’t fall down. But man, I’m really struggling to think of a throw where he had a guy open and just missed. If I’m going to nitpick, there were a couple of plays where he abandoned the pocket a bit early and tried to scramble and ended up getting sacked when he could have slid up and had another second to throw. But that’s stuff that happens to even the best of quarterbacks. I think we’re witnessing something special here.

Yep... Me... I was one of the haters. Dude must have got some of the best pvssy coral gables could offer because boy that confidence is through the ******* roof now. He's not that same big goofy timid giant I thought he was before. That boy shut me the **** up and made me a fan. I respect that.
A good piece of *** will do that to a man.

Golden Monkey is a fine brew
Helles Lager me all day.

I gotta remember to record the games again, really want to go back and watch the offense. That throw from the goalline while the ACCN camera crew was on a smoke break was something. He has so much arm talent and he's still learning the nuances of the position. Put a bunch of maulers in front him and our skill players via the portal and the offense has juggernaut potential for the next couple of years.

Something CMR said during the halftime show was telling....he basically said that the reason for the offensive explosion is because Lashlee/Diaz was treating TVD like a Freshman/1st time starter but after the UVA and UNC losses, coaches knew what time it was and had nothing to lose by opening up the entire playbook to TVD and see what will happen...and he's shocked EVERYBODY by responding in an unbelievable way....

So hats off to TVD and our kids but dang it CMD and Lashlee...scared $$$ don't make none.....saw it with Diaz loving "older guys" and now we hear about it that Lashlee sort of did his play calling the same way due to TVD being a younger inexperienced player. I really hope this is a learning and humbling moment for both coaches....
The broadcasters covering the game said Lashlee told them the exact same thing.. You can see Lashlee coaching scared in first half of those games especially UVA. The whole first half was run , run, maybe pass, punt.. These corches really dont know the talent they have it seems with the young guys, they are sooooo entrenched with older jag players its like they dont watch practice of the young guys and know what they can do

When TVD made his 1st start against UVA and the play calling was timid, I said:

“Quit restricting the QB. Either let him play or just run the ball. Not doing TVD or the offense no favors right now.”

You could tell they weren’t trusting him…. Just let him play! Who knows what wouldve happened had they just let him play? Just glad he’s showing out now!

Lol Kyle never looked good early in his career
Oh he looked good throwing the ball early. What he didn't do was get away from sacks. Eventually the PTSD caught up with him from all the hits, and dropped passes. People often forget the dropped passes from that era, but man, there were a lot of them.

Bottom line, TVD is what people thought Wright should have been, not what he was.

This Saturday will be interesting. TVD is going to get a lot of media love this week...let's see how he handles that against a team he's going to be expected to light up. I feel that every single time over the last 18 years or so, when Miami or any Miami player starts to get positive press about how great they are, they end up crapping the bed.

There is going to be a psychological difference playing Georgia Tech at home at noon vs ranked NCSU in a night game and ranked Pitt on the road. Let's see how he handles it. That engineering school always plays Miami tough regardless of its record.

Like I said yesterday I have zero inside info but I’ve seen that Blake James thing the other day enough times to know what’s happening
