Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

I’m sure Mario is ****ed the game score last year was that close. Hope he is not so intent on sitting on a lead this year
It was close because he allowed it to be.

Playing hyper conservative almost lost us the game against Notre Dame and made the FSU and UF games look a lot closer than they ever should have been. He’s had two chances to bury terrible FSU teams the last two years and has taken it easy on them twice. We need to bury those ******* this year. Not take our foot off the gas halfway through the third quarter and just be content to run the clock and get the win.

I somewhat agree on FSU and ND but not UF. That game was in a monsoon and we were certianly trying to throw the ball until the last couple of drives. In fact UF only made it a game because of a Cormani pick when Beck took a shot downfield.

Mario lets his foot off the gas too early too often. Last year’s FSU is just one of a few examples.

I understand pulling starters but run your offense. If they can’t stop it that’s their problem

I’m not so certain. Manny inherited richts roster and had mild early success. But he couldn’t build anything. He then inherited elkos roster and hasn’t had to do a complete rebuild. Taking over a program with absolutely nothing in the cupboard would just expose his program building and recruiting deficiencies.

Only counter to that is he has learned and improved a little bit, but I agree with whoever said his ceiling is 8-9 wins

I don’t know if he’s significantly improved. He lost to multiple G5 teams last year—vintage Manny. Recruiting/portal has not been stellar (not awful, just not great). Mensah/Barkate/Shepard are the reason for their recent success, and 2/3 are now gone (wonder where they could be…)

It’s ultimately the same tale as his time at Miami, mostly inconsistent but gets a few lucky Ws (à la our 2020 season). The fact that he is at Duke is covering up those warts.

Mandy got lucky as **** with the ACC tiebreaker rules...

I believe they were 7-5 coming into that game too. Again, classic Manny.

He did, but I am really interested to see how he plays it this year. I think you will agree when he took his foot off the gas it was pre SMU. After we lost that game and all the talking heads seemingly created a new criteria for CFB selection which was HOW you won games and since that game Mario was running up the score.

It seems pre smu he was still doing the unwritten coaches rule of trying not to embarrass people an running out the clock, post SMU he was only concerned about looking good to CFB committee and stepped on throats to get there, throwing bombs at the end of the Pitt and VT game are perfect examples.

Now we have a clean slate, I hope Mario has the same mentality that we need to beat down every team by as much as possible because if we do have a slipup, we dont want a bunch of close games on the resume but we will see once the season starts.

Agreed… but he was in catch up mode post SMU. I just want the mentality to be different consistently. Not underestimating or taking it lightly on anyone.

Unless we up 30+ mid way through the 4th it should be all gas no breaks.

Nope agreed. It was 100% catchup mode but I dont think this "eye test" is going away now. My point was I hope Mario now realizes this and has the same mentality post SMU to start this season, it is however TBD.

Wait, haven't you heard that F$U is STACKED now, Prison Mike has recruited so many great players that he is now INTENTIONALLY reducing the size of his recruiting class...
Kidding aside, it's a young team (average CFB experience 1.39 years).

0-1 years experience: 53 players
2 years experience: 20 players

There isn't that much room if they intend to keep their existing players.

This is especially funny considering how they made a big deal this offseason of claiming they were gonna focus more on recruiting and developing going forward, rather than relying on the portal.

Strong points.

Also, one of CIS more clever screen names.
