Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

Terrible take, you’re supposed to root for your rivals. So, when you beat them, you get credit for it. If FSU & Florida were both 9-3 and ranked, Miami makes the playoff in 2024.
For those of us old enough to remember being shut out by FSU during the probation years, or how their coaches used the Barnes murder to negatively recruit against us, we will never want FSU to win a single game.

For those old enough to remember UF dropping UM from its schedule, they will never want UF to win a single game.

Yes, your point makes more sense than being angry about something that happened 30-40 years ago, but old memories are hard to erase.

Why would Lane leave to go to FSU? I think if Lane were to leave Ole Miss, it would be to go to someplace like Bama, UGA, or UF. I just don’t see him at FSU in the middle of a rebuild, when he’s in a decent position right now.
I don’t think he will. Just saying we invested heavily in the program in ‘22. Which is probably the only reason Lane would’ve considered us. If FSU called with similar planning, highly unlikely imo, I wouldn’t be surprised if he listened. Ole Miss does have a ceiling. I hate to admit it but FSU does have a higher ceiling than Ole Miss does. Not immediately obviously with how poorly Norvell has done in roster building.

I don’t see kiffen leaving a team who has good nil money to coach in that dumpster fire broke fsu
I’m not disagreeing with that point. But everything you said about FSU was us in ‘22. Obviously our on the field product was a bit better but I don’t think I’d be surprised to hear he is interested. Other than him, I don’t see any P4 coach giving them the time of day. Sanders included.

Maybe. I don’t know if it’s as simple as opening the checkbook anymore. I’m not trying to turn this into a Mario vs Lane debate, but realistically other than those two who would we have had a realistic chance with? Maybe they can poach Lane, but I don’t see any other sitting HC with name recognition.
Manny's dream to coach his alma mater.................

Accept the money issue seems since shalala left Miami has decided to focus on sports again ..

They got better at QB with Castellanos, but the QB room overall blows. RB is average, nothing special. WR is a dumpster fire. Their WRs going into last year was the reason I kept saying they’d suck. That TE they have is going to be a good one. OL blows. Castellanos will be running for his life half the time.

Defense will be scrappy, but you gotta be able to score. All in all I think they’re a 4-8/5-7 team. Norvell gets ****canned mid season 26’, since they can’t afford to buy him out + staff and go for a big name coach.

As a program, it just feels like they have zero momentum at the moment.
Not sure signing Herve Villachaize to QB is a step up, considering he’s going to have step up on a step ladder to see downfield.

It’s so weird that we hyper focus on one or two coaches. Like college football isn’t full of guys who are capable of winning if given the resources.

Let’s look at the CFP coaches last year

Lanning- Georgia DC
Smart- Alabama DC
Danielson- promoted from within
Sarkisian- Alabama OC
Dillingham - Oregon OC
Franklin - Vanderbilt HC
Swinney - promoted from within
Freeman - promoted from within
Day - promoted from within
Heupel - UCF HC
Cignetti - JMU HC
Lashlee - Miami OC

I personally like the idea of hiring a successful coordinator from a big time program because they’re used to big boy recruiting. Obviously promoting from within is only a good move if the prior head coach was successful. And hiring an up and comer from a smaller school is always a gamble.

Let’s hope FSU promotes from within when they finally dump Norvell.

So they’ve become us under Shalala. Although as mediocre as we were, we never had 3-6 and 2-10 years (they’ve had both in the last five years). 5-7 was our worst, and pretty sure UF hasn’t dipped below 4-7 recently.

But they got spoiled and decided that they deserved better than Jimbo. They saw the downward trajectory, and didn’t attribute it to any external factors, but simply chalked it up to Jimbo’s deficiencies. Now after back-to-back misses, they are in the same place we were right before we hired Richt. Not sure they realize it though. Nor am I sure they have the money.
I don’t think so… Shalala didn’t want to invest in athletics, but she built a monster in UHealth.

Looks to me like FSU has a president whose focused on borrowing money, not making it.

Well, I just meant how stagnant the football program was. However, FSU’s president is also focused on building up their med school and health facilities now as well.
