One good year at USF, bolstered by Flowers, I’ll give him that.

Average at Oregon.

There’s no telling if this guy is as good as his hype, but he has yet to live up to it, that’s for sure.

Jury is still out on Taggart, seems similar to Golden. It should be mentioned though that Oregon was 5-1 and then they lost their starting QB.

They did. But their victories were against Southern Utah, Nebraska (won by a TD to a horrible Neb team), Wyoming, and Cal (probably their best win of the season) to start the first half of the season. And it looks like they started off 4-1, not 5-1. Their 6th game they got dominated by Washington St.
 
Still think this is going to be bad for them no mater what. If he does go there he is leaving a place he was at for 1 year. So if he is any good he will have no conflict in leaving when LSU comes calling to pay more than FSU can. If he is bad they will be stuck with him and over paying him.
 
With FSU, we all talked ourselves out of it, but we saw how good FSU's offenses were in Bowden's twilight coaching years. Putting it bluntly, McElwain went into UF with a better resume than Taggart's going into FSU.

Negative recruiting against Taggart shouldn't be hard. He's now coached at 3 schools in the last year.

Not sure when but Oregon’s starting qb got hurt. Regardless, their schedule was pretty soft. Hard to believe that FSU is hiring a head coach with a losing record.

he may end up winning there but to say this hire doesn't strike fear around the state would be an understatement. you would have thought they would have snagged a guy with some big program chops. not sure if one exists but i am underwhelmed.
 
Taggart is a great recruiter but let's be honest, it's not something you can really upgrade form Jimbo, that dude was racking up Top5 class every year!

Can he be a better gameday coach than jimbo? He didn't prove it yet!

Jimbo went national because it got harder to take kids from our staff . We have solid recruiters too

Agreed. Downright hilarious to see FSU fans excited because recruiting's apparently going to pick up (I could understand if they're basing that off the last 2 months). But during Jimbo's tenure, they were up there with Bama and Ohio St. in terms of recruiting rankings. Hard to do any better than that, unless you're Saban.

Why are people so goddamned scared of losing Dugans? Just because his alma mater could offer him a lateral move?

It would be one thing if Bobby Bowden was calling him. Let's not forget that Dugans LEFT South Florida to join Richt at Miami.

And, as Austin pointed out, Dugans' daughter is enrolled at UM.
