No reason to worry about us firing Golden...

Al Golden gains nothing from leaving here. The only job he wanted was Penn State. If he takes a demotion and goes to a mid-major then he's showing everyone he's a coward and doesn't want to fight. Trust me I want him gone too but it won't happen. The only shot we have is if the Rutgers job opens up, and that isn't gonna happen this off-season.

+1. Miami is one of the best jobs in the country in a recruiting hot bed. Him leaving for a lower tier program is highly unlikely and would be a sign of defeat.

I don't know if many outside of some UM fans would consider MIAMI one of the best jobs in the country.

I do agree that golden went "all in" on that fsu game and **** near had a royal flush if he could have hung on. I do think he and the team have all but gave up on the ssason. I saw zero fight in that uva game. I expect the seniors to play their hearts out against pitt. And I think we win because we give it all we got for guys like duke, denzel, dorsett, mongo, and walford.

but there is zero doubt in my mind we get destroyed in the bowl game unless we are playing some FCS school.

That is how our season will end.

And its a **** shame. Smh.

The U couldn't get lucky enough for Golden to take another job. He'll be here for ever. It will be a never ending cycle of trends, improvement and excuses for seasons like this one.

Not winning the Coastal is embarassing.

Getting blown out by mediocre teams is embarassing.

Losing to FSU or any rival four or more years in a row should never happen for a school of Miami's caliber.

The one thing working in our favor as it relates to this topic is that inexplicably, the majority of the college football world seems to think Golden is doing a great job. Maybe that misconception will fool someone into luring him away.

He's going to be a real hot prospect coming off a 6-7 season with a roster that has the best NFL talent in the country.

Sooo.....golden must be the best recruiter of nfl talent in the country

and....the best DEVELOPER of NFL TALENT

Sure college in need of HC will see the skillset that molded above average recruits (way less heralded than Bama's) into the very top of NFL prospects in the country

Golden actually believes hes better than what he is and he believes his own lies and bs excuses. He won't leave on his own.

It's like that Seinfeld episode where George gets that job at Play Now Sports and they think he is handicapped because he is limping and walking with a cane. When they find out he's been lying about being handicapped they try to force him to resign by offering to pay 50% of his remaining contract. His response: "but if I stay, I get the whole thing." Same situation here. Why on earth would Golden leave money on the table? He's not going anywhere unless he gets fired at this point.

I pray I'm wrong and that you're right, but I don't see it. I think our BOT is fine with us being a fair to middling team. I would expect with all of the players that he brought in that have had discipline issues and the fact that our on the field product sucks that torches would be lit and sabres rattling, but at least publicly that is not the case.

I do think he would be a perfect fit for the State University of NJ, and with his used carsalesman mojo, he could spin that as a positive step forward, e.g., wife gets to return to NJ, always wanted to return home, three pillars, brick by brick, and whatever other bs he can add to why he took another position.

I am willing to bet he is going to leave on his own.

No doubt in my mind Brett Senior is working behind the scenes to get Al a mid major job for the same or slightly less dough.

This is the last chance Golden has to sell his brand.

He can sell "the cloud", having to play a freshman QB, the fundraising and improvements he has made to Miami, the fact that the stupid Miami fans want a Broyles candidate (Dnofrio) fired, etc.

I am pretty convinced Golden "gave up" on this situation after the FSU game. That would explain the Virigina performance where the team looked totally unprepared. If Golden had taken over the defense after GT, he certainly gave it right back to Dorito after the FSU game.

Golden knows he is not the right fit down here not to mention the media has completely turned on him. He tried like **** to bail last year.

The only question is whether he tries to ***** us by waiting until mid January to jump leaving our class in shambles. Al certainly wouldn't mind having the excuse of an abridged recruiting class at his new job.

OP, good take. I said this in another thread, but when James said that the ONLY WAY GOLDEN WOULDN'T BE HERE WAS IF HE LEFT FOR ANOTHER SCHOOL...that resignated w/ me. He said that, RIGHT AFTER he mentioned how he wouldn't fire Golden. Why would there be a need to make the other statement if Golden is their guy? James and the BOT was not happy w/ Golden's weasel move to try to get to PSU. He's proven he's not trustworthy (strike one). This year we came in w/ national media attention as the overwhelming favorite to win the Coastal; not only did we lose out on the Coastal, we've been utterly embarrassed on National TV every time we've played. (strike two) Now, we've taken a step back in our recruiting and our overall winning record is down the toilet. (strike three). I don't care what lip service is given in public, the fact too much neg media attention is being given to Al and it's start to come to the Admin as well.

i've followed politics and sports for a while (had no choice, actually), but this what i know...if a coach is really thee coach, there is no reason to defend him AND make up scenarios for losing him. when a team hires a guy, have you ever heard the gm or team president say "he's going to be here for as long as it's going to take, or unless someone takes him from us?" of course not...james is being politically correct, but he's double talking at the same time. by saying "unless he goes somewhere else", it leaves room for error. al could resign or get fired behind closed doors but allowed to say he's stepping down (see will muschamp at uf) and the next thing that will be said is, "al has decided that he wanted to move in a different direction for this reason or that reason." it's a coward move, but it happens all the time. let's just put it like this, by james public declaration, i wouldn't put golden at a 100% he's coming back, i would put it at a 55/45 and that 55 can swing in either direction come after the pitt game.

Yep.

The way this dumpster-fire of a season is going to burn out, no one's hiring that piece of **** for a head-level job. Unless he pulls some ridiculous sales job, which is possible I suppose. I know before the UVA debacle Illinois was very interested. Then they went and beat PSU and we got assraped.

Not winning out is another **** You to this fan base from the empty suit.

It crazy that some believe this.......
The extreme level of rationalization I've seen on display on this site is impressive. Plus what has Al really done in terms of the cloud? He stuck around? That had value when we were still under his used car salesman spell that he was the real deal, but in hindsight what did he real do? People act like it was him who negotiated a deal with the NCAA.

The "he stuck with us through the ncaa ordeal" is the biggest crock of **** I've ever heard. He was getting paid $2.5M to lose 5 games per year.

Where the **** was he going? Who wanted him?

After he groveled so hard for the ped state job last year does anyone with an IQ above cottage cheese think he would have turned down another job that he wanted if it was offered to him during the ncaa investigation?

this guy used fake BC rumors his first year, then tried to bolt to PSU last year. also, this guy came from temple where they hear gunshots on campus and have crackheads walking around. anyone with a brain would leave Temple.

So, you're saying Golden to SMU???

That fat **** is not going to leave when he has Brad Kaaya. He's going to ride the Kaaya wave for two years, then bolt. Bank on it.
