Penn state wears the same two jerseys always. Not sure why that deal would be so big
They had to overpay to get PSU to move. As I stated earlier, changing suppliers is a pain, most schools won’t do it unless there’s a legit financial incentive to do so. Adidas also hoped Miami would take a slight hit out of loyalty, terrible assumption on their part. This is about MONEY, period. Nike paid, and that’s what matters.

I hope he holds firm. I know Sumrall probably doesn't have a lot of say as a new coach but Nike/Jumpman forced a ton of alternate jerseys/helmets on the Gators this year.
As they should… they’ve put a crap product on the football team. Basketball team seems to left alone since they seem to be doing their thing

Idk why people are surprised apparel company’s would wanna push more alt jerseys or crazy designs to help drive some sells when people won’t buy the regular stuff because theirs zero excitement due to a crap on the field product

I've never felt older trying to figure out wtf this means.

Kanye used to make Nike shoes before adidas ones. The Nikes were better.

Jai Lucas’ brother has an elite youth basketball league program, sponsored by Nike, and having an adidas sponsorship is at odds with that. Other staff members on the basketball side worked for said program beforehand.

Adidas is a German company. Nike is based in Portland Oregon.

Forced? Really? Sumrall came from Tulane. Tulane has a ton of alternate jerseys/helmets. I think Sumrall likes a lot of alternate/jerseys.

So can we use this as proof that previously Nike didn’t value us past negotiation?

Lmao

2/3rds of Nike deal will be cash… interesting. I though t Nike couldn’t do that….

This is great for everyone but Adidas who massively ****ed yo by not making us their clear #1 CFB program. Honestly no clue why they wouldn’t have gone all in on us, pretty dumb tbh

Gotdam I feel old.
Good news - I know who Kanye is. I know who Jai Lucas is. I think I know what an elite youth basketball league program is. I know what Nike is. I know what Adidas is. I even know where Germany is and I've been to Portland a few times. I have no idea who the F Jai's brother is.

Thank you for the explanation. Enjoy laughing at my expense all day.

Don't let Nike eff around and give us a Black Air Force 1 cleat (IYKYK). Harkens back to our 80's/90's aura and look on the field which which also matches the energy of the shoe...

Anyone got the access to the Barry Jackson article

Just click past the paywall and play the audio.

Good article. Dan R. took an Adidas extension to Joe E. earlier this year, but Joe didn't sign of on it. Joe called Manny K., who negotiated the deal with Nike.

They should bring back Zo as well.

Adidas was the leading company in soccer in that era by a gigantic margin. They supplied most national teams with boots, had by far the highest quality level and supplied the official balls for every major tournament.

Then Nike signed MJ and the rest is history...

During the 1980s and 1990s, I played on various softball and soccer rec leagues. Always looking for shoes and other equipment, I went out of my way to avoid Nike for anesthetic reasons but I ended up with Nike softball cleats and same for soccer boots. They were more comfortable for me and held up for longer time. Later when I started buying shoes from one of those places where they measure my feet and gait, always ended up Nikes as the best fit.

Pretty weird that Nike never managed to put Alabama, OSU, Florida, LSU, etc. in such ugly garbage....
This.

I don’t want to be East Coast Oregon. Keep the gimmicky **** in the Pacific Northwest and let Miami wear our classics. You’d never see Alabama in any of those goofy combos Nike gave us in the mid-late 2000’s.
