Nijel Pack to Miami

I can tell it’s been a minute since we’ve been something in college athletics. Some of y’all forget that we are the heels of college sports. The Bad Guy. They will hate us no matter what so might as well win
I’m just not used to our basketball program receiving so much hate. It’s typically the football program.

Ok... I've been holding back on this one, but F it...

IMO Ruiz is Mario's mouthpiece. He is saying all the things Mario isn't allowed to say because of NCAA recruiting rules. He's generating press and hype for Miami, which helps recruiting, which is Mario's #1, #1, and #1. Yeah, we're the bad boys again. Except we're bad boy bankers.

If anyone thinks Ruiz would step out of line against Mario's wishes, they don't understand what's going on here. There was a strategic reason Ruiz went out of his way to publicly downplay his relationship with Mario even though we all know better. Mario is telling Ruiz who to target, and how bad we want them. 100% IMO. Ruiz might have even given Mario a budget to divide up. This goes for hoop too. And baseball because of Johnny. The other sports are to provide cover.

This is a billion dollar program now with strong leadership. If anyone thinks that Ruiz is freestyling, I've got an FSU NIL to sell you.
And that doesn't even address Rad.

As you've made clear and I adamantly concur, Ruiz is doing NOTHING that isn't simpatico with what Hecht is absolutely fine with.

What I'd LOVE to see now is a little friendly competition among our dudes. Have Dan Lambert shell out some big cash for the next kid. Maybe one of the Mas Bros grabs a kid. Lemonis already should've given a kid an RV and a camera to film a rolling commercial.

The college sports landscape is already hating us again just because we're keeping up on this front. Watch the venom flow our way if they believe that we got more than just Ruiz on our big money bench- not that I don't actually kinda love that it's that type of uber-Miami guy that is ****ing off all these fanbases. Gives me a sort of Razor Ramon (RIP) "Bad Guy" sort of joy.

"Gimme the mic, Scheme Gene. Hey yo. Chico, I don’t need some West Virginia inbred, some Purdue assclown or any other of the poors telling the bad guys how to recruit!”

And yes I’m aware Pack didn’t really play Point Guard at K-State, he was more of an undersized 2-guard.

But IMO I think he can play Point for us, I think Wong is better as an off-ball guard, but he can be a good ball distributor & operate the offense when necessary too.

It will be interesting to see what we can get out of Joseph.
well the great news is that L's system is very friendly to point guard/shooting guard tweeners... Shane Larkin, Bruce Brown, Durand Scott, JaQuan Newton, Isaiah Wong. even the best of those guys (Larkin and Brown) weren't good enough to play PG in the NBA, and none of the four of them ever had a season at Miami where they had more than 4.5 assists. and then there's the short PG types like Angel Rodriguez, Charlie Moore who had really good seasons under L. if Pack is as good as people think he is then he will thrive for us.

Another ***aloon throwing shade at the Canes in a tongue-in-cheek way. The hate is real.

I’d rather him be a man and just come out and say it straight up.

All of these mofos are shook. They know what’s coming, and it’s not good for any of them. We’re coming back with a vengeance after a long hiatus. The sleeping bear has finally awakened from its long slumber.

Funny how none of these ***aloons have ever said anything about Baga, Taint, Clem$on, aTm, Texa$, Jawja, L$U, etc., all known bag schools, and neck deep in major violations that have been ignored by Sabag’s butt buddy and his NCAA cronies for many years.

The pics, tweets and texts are all over the web for anyone that wants to actually take the time to investigate what has been going on for years, but none of these so called “journalists” have a modicum of integrity.

Big, bad Miami is all of a sudden the fall guy for taking advantage of the NIL laws that have legally given them a chance to play ball with the big bag schools.

They shook for real.

Also, the “other school” is not giving him ****. LifeWallet, a privately owned company is the one that’s giving him the deal in exchange for using his image and likeness for marketing and promotional services.

It’s all good when Baga is giving Bryce Young $1,000,000 in NIL deals, but Miami better not do the same or else. Double standard hypocrisy at its finest.

Yup.

OSU literally bought Quinn Ewers, and nobody said a word.

If he picked Kansas or UK then nobody would say a **** word haha Kansas was literally busted for cheating haha

Guys, if you think Ruiz's bravado around all of this stuff isn't entirely about marketing for the purposes of recruiting, then you don't know how this game is played. I guarantee you that the tweet about Pack's $800k deal was specifically for a guy like Mims, or any other high level talent at another school that maybe isn't entirely happy with their situation. Pretty obvious. Just enjoy it while it lasts!

Someone send @TrumpyCane at that ***

Look, I think Ruiz is making it about himself and guys like that personally rub me the wrong way. In the old days, he’d be threatening the program with his antics.

HOWEVER, these are not the old days. Miami is not “literally just buying players”, Miami didn’t make the announcement, Miami didn’t take the risk. Ruiz did, it’s his money and his rep that gets put on the line. He just announced the sponsorship publicly, which is not uncommon. In fact the “reporter” is objecting to it being public and the timing, while lying about who announced it, and would be completely fine if it was under the table like the old days.

Im a bit torn on this because I love the attention it’s bringing and the way it’s leveling up the program, but I don’t like the way Ruiz (and his family) likes to be the story as much as the players. I can’t have it both ways.
Well said.

That’s a ton of bank and I’m grateful to Ruiz.

But IMO this whole NIL thing is starting to spiral out of control and it’s not gonna end well for college athletics as we know it.
It almost has to, but while it is within the rules, I am glad we are getting this program in order and taking advantage.

I’m with you, but I think part of it is that Ruiz is literally using NIL to promote lifewallet as a consumer product.

Ruiz was not anything really special as a trial lawyer or mass tort guy. And tho the spac is real… there are a lot of legit legal questions about the collectibility/feasibility of the assignment claims upon which his worth is based.

So for now, he’s got lots of access to capital, LOVES the U, and recognizes the legit exposure boon of NIL.

This is at least what I can gather from knowing that Ruiz seems not to be an outcast in the Hecht.

So… I say god bless him as long as he’s following all the rules and dotting all the I’s.
What do you think his net worth is excluding the dubious assignment claims?

Fuggin' Matt Painter..."Waaahhhh, waaahhhh, I'm going to be paid $3.225 million this year, but I want to continue to rely on free indentured servitude, while shaming and/or preventing other schools from doing things that are perfectly legal and within the NCAA rules..."
