Nick Linder and Chad Thomas

Bump.

This kid just flat out can play. Some people questioned whether he was worthy of a scholarship and he's just stepped right in and bwasted for an undersized freshman.

Have some more kids, Linders.

I was one of the few who wanted him.. lowly 3 * whipping the higher rated kids.. Not surprising.
Question
Does Kehoe get credit or do we blame Swasey for LInder blowing guys off the ball.

Kehoe has to get some credit here. Has to, even though people will refuse to do it. I mean he caught a lot of deserved **** for underperforming OL's in the past but he's got his squad playing well despite not a lot of fanfare on the interior. Nick Linder, Isadora, and McDermott? Yeah I would have said we were ****ed.

Interestingly, Thomas was terrible tonight.

Linder was our best OL tonight believe it or not. We ran that stretch play repeatedly because Linder could get to the second level. Not always pretty blocks- but effective.

yeah didn't Chad much tonight though he did have a very good game against GT which surprised me for a freshman against that style.

I'm worried about Chad Thomas. There is nothing about him that looks explosive. He's kind of plodding around out there.

Linder has played extremely well.

Thomas is being woefully misused. Playing the Chickillo role on non-obvious passing downs and lined up inside on obvious passing downs. Put that kid on the edge and let him abuse a less athletic OT.

He should have a much bigger impact for us than he's had so far.

I agree about Thomas being misused. I saw him playing the 3-technique multiple times tonight....really?? The guy is a perfect 4-3 DE, but in the Goldoriot defense he's best suited to be a 5-technique. I don't get it.

I was surprised that he didn't have the burst i expected, but i wasn't keying on him much so i would have to go back and re-watch the tape.

Someone else mentioned Trent Harris.....i didn't see a lot of explosion in the few plays i caught him on the field either (i was busy doing things and didn't focus on the details like i normally do). I know in the games i watched earlier this year he really struggled at times, so maybe that is why he is getting a little less burn these days. He seems to be a bit of a tweener right now, too small for DE but not quick enough in space to play OLB. I'll be curious to see how he progresses with more time in the weight room.

One guy i was not a big fan of......Wyche. He is too big and can't move. The coaches really need to slim him down. I would rather have smaller DTs that disrupt than mammoth ones that can't move and are easily handled by a guy standing in their way. When McCord got hurt, it looked like it was b/c Wyche fell on him well after the play was over.

Linder has been nothing short of spectacular thus far, especially given the lack of notoriety compared to the other freshmen OLinemen. Very impressed.
