So, 2 out if 3 guys were running sub 4.4s in our backfield; for the college level that's pretty elite. So why was there an argument claiming we don't have speed. I can see if you say we don't have 4.3 speed, but to be true they are not as many 4.3 guys out there as one might think.

I agree he’s making a huge mistake not running when you come out early. If he’s not running fast he should’ve stayed.
Especially with this years DL class.
Just so yall understand, most agents advise you not to run at the combine unless ur either a freak or have something to prove. They say that because you run in front of virtually all those scouts and the ones that are serious about you at your pro day...

Out of Miami safeties who have run at the combine, Redwine's 40 time is the fastest I can recall.

Taylor didn't run it, but he was very likely in the 4.4s somewhere.

IIRC back in the late 99/early 00s, it used to be "a thing" that our guys did NOT participate in the combines. I recall reading one of our guys asked about this said that he wanted to make sure the scouts went to go check out the pro day to see ALL the draft-eligible canes workout, not just the ones going to the combines. Our top guys would make the scouts wait until the end to run, making them wait through all the Delvin Browns of the world to do their thing first.
