NFL Combine Thread

re: Michael Jackson

6'1" 210lbs with 32.5 inch arms...runs a 4.4 and has other athletic testing numbers that justify calling him a total athlete...All-Conference caliber player.

If you think that player is going anywhere near Day 3, idk, I'd call you crazy.

Some teams will like him outside...some will want to move him in to safety...whatever he plays in the league, I hope we all understand this guy is going to be a good football player and ain't nobody underdrafting him or getting him at a discount.

HOT TAKE -- he'll be the first Miami Hurricane off the board on Day 2 of the draft.

Love this board during combine time.

You keep talking **** so what are your predictions then? Besides MJ running 4.6 and the super definite Jaquan simply may not pan out? Where do you see all these terribly coached Miami players going on the draft?

Completely agree, Jaquan shouldn’t have run if he wasn’t at least going to run in the 4.55-4.60 range which would have been a good time for him

I agree but that's not Jaquan. He's the type that never backs down from competition. He was never going to run a fast 40. He's not the biggest or strongest either but he's quicker than he is fast and when it comes to football IQ and natural instincts he grades out better than most.

You're right - here's some recent Miami Safety 40's

Redwine - 4.45
Meriweather - 4.47
Phillips - 4.48
Jenkins - 4.51
Gunter - 4.62
Bush - 4.64
Carter - 4.64
Johnson - 4.69
Redwine is the only one that played CB also out of that group

Michael Jackson is a 95th percentile athlete.

Athletic profile similar Quentin Jammer. If you require a CB with 32in+ arms and miss out on JoeJuan Williams, Mike Jackson should be the guy you're eying up.

Sheldrick Redwine a 94th percentile athlete.

Jaquan Johnson a 5th percentile athlete. -1.6 sigma. That is very bad.

I hope so - I'm rooting for him

The problem isn't he doesn't have good measurables - it's he has awful measureables. There's just no sugar coating that.

To be that small & that slow - he'd be an extreme outlier. I can see him making a team for sure, I just can't see him actually playing that much.

M Jack & Redwine absolutely killed it today though. That was awesome to see.
Man don’t let these drills and testing numbers fool you. Quan will make a team and play a lot. He’s a football player. The best player we had in the secondary. Career film speak for itself.

No surprise about Jackson or Redwine. That combination of athletic ability and arm length will ensure that many teams are intrigued. Heck, it is exactly the combination that the Seahawks look for. They typically take the undervalued cornerbacks with those traits in rounds 4-6.

Speed wasn't the only issue with Johnson. He indeed looked like simply an overmatched athlete. Unlike Njoku a couple of years ago, Johnson obviously prepared for the forty. His technique was good. His start in the opening forty was very good. Then he hit a wall about midway through and was basically stumbling around, straining for a burst that wasn't there. Likewise in the backpedal and go drill, Johnson had more of a lurch than a smooth turn. Then he was bumbling around while trying to sprint through the cones.

I’m sure Jaquan will run those drills again at pro day and let’s hope for a better outcome. He doesn’t play like a 5% percentile athlete on the field imo.. He clearly is never going to be a supreme/ workout warrior athlete so teams have to gauge whether his intangibles can make up for it. (Instincts, tackling ability, big play ability, toughness, etc)

Lol @ the @zzclowns @djnellz @DerekDohrman @Tee3000 reacting to my post without responding. Enlighten me what does Devin White do well on film besides run fast? He's awful at taking on blocks, he's slow processing and reacting, he has issues breaking down to tackle in space, he has issues in coverage. I bet you all thought Alec Ogletree was a beast too.

Off-ball LB is not a high value position anymore. Look at the contracts at that position. Defensive players who don't impact the passing game aren't at a premium. Devin White is a project at a low value position who's getting top 5 buzz. It's ludicrous. But sure neg away this post cause he ran fast and LSU shut down Richt's archaic PeeWee offense. I'm always down to add new people to the ignore list.

Tough guy calling someone an assclown. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Go ***** yourself with a pair of dirty Willie Saleman tighty whities on, and don't forget your tampons while you hit the ignore button, ya puss.

I think Jackson and Redwine being absolute elite 95th percentile athletes is a surprise. Having that good of testing athletes have been few and far between at Miami in recent vintage. Only David Njoku of recent memory blew up a SPARQ score that elite. We've had a lot of poor testing athletes over the recent years.

Yeah, Jaquan hasn't had a great process. I know he can play, but not only has he come in very undersized (29.5 inch arms...yikes) but he is nearly an unusable athlete according to test figures. One of those guys, if you draft, you just got to trust what you saw with the eyes in games...but you're taking a leap of faith at this point.

So turns out we had elite levels athletes at db(i think bandy will test very well when he comes out) along with elite play. Both Jackson and redwine ran in the 4.65 range after their first year at Miami and they both added a bunch a weight so the path is there to continuously add weight and drop 40 times

great to see Jackson, redwine and homer test that. Even though joe Jackson vertical wasn’t impressive I thought He did extremely well on his drills too

So he and Rumph were disbarred from conversating the past several years?

All I know is that if he had stayed at CB, he would have not even gotten drafted. People had written Redwine off after his sophomore year..Not saying that was Rumphs fault because Redwine just didn't have the skill set to be cornerback... But give credit where it is due. Banda turned Redwine from being a UFA to a possible top 100 draft pick.

Which is **** good for a kid that was a lower level 3* and was a last minute add-on to that years recruiting class.
