New recruiting tactic Golden needs to implement

Having a 7 on 7 tournament during his camps.

UF is doing that this summer. FSU and UGA already do this.

If a whole HS team goes, then transportation to and from would be easier vs a single recruit or 2 needing a ride.

Boats and Ho's.

This time we go to Alabama and LSU and find out how to really do it without getting busted, before implementation.

I've always felt that UF's Friday Night Lights event is one of the best recruiting tactics a school can do.

Having been to a couple of these in the past I can tell you that these can be huge for recruiting. You not only are getting the few that you are recruiting at a certain school but also the underclassmen who are rising 9th and 10th graders and can start building a relationship. Friday night lights is always a good turnout at UF as well at OSU but it helps when you have an on campus stadium. Everything helps

I think we should use All that Miami offers as a recruiting tool. The city and the university.

Kids can go bowling in any city in America but can they walk around in shorts surrounded by models in thongs in Columbus, Ohio in January?
Maybe the school should invest in a University of Miami 62 foot catamaran as an amenity for the coaching staff to take kids out on bonding trips.

Saban takes them 4 wheeling on his school sponsored estate. Why can't Golden do the same on a school sponsored yacht with a dozen "nieces" for company?

Bowling is ok, but balling sells.

The recruiting tactic he needs is a money booster who cares about the program, and isn't just some jock sniffer wanting to be a big man on campus.

Agreed.

However I think it's fair to give Golden a ton of credit for bringing in a lot of fresh ideas regarding camps and recruiting in person. Maybe he relies on it too much, but the overall culture has improved 1000%. I expect that to continue.

I think Golden has done a nice job with the camps and getting young prospects on campus. Look at the offers out now for the 2015 class and how many of those players have already been to an Al Golden camp. I think 7 vs 7 camps help get prospects that are from far away places on campus. But lets be real kids that are from Jacksonville or Tallahassee are not going to Miami if they have a UF or FSU offer. On the flip side we have seen many Miami kids leave the 305 for UF or FSU. If a kid has a tie to Miami like Owens or Barrios Miami has been able to get them to come to camp.

I think what would help Miami way more than the 7 vs 7 camp is if they could find a way to lower the camp fee from $59 to $30-$40.

I think at night camp like UF does would be awesome for Miami. Under the lights with top prospects in SLS with music blaring and former hurricane greats would make a lot of these kids think stronger about Miami. These kids want to compete with the best and the best venues. Make it happen Al.

Well, the "how you do it" is to have a large alumnus/booster base with boosters that are so devoted to the football program that they would sooner die than throw the program under the bus when confronted about possible violations. Unfortunately, that's something they have and we don't.

a new defensive coordinator and a public apology for his experimenting with defensive football would go a long way

Probably when it first started, I don't think the awe is still really there. A lot of schools like UGA have already bit off the idea.
