Fort Worth Brewer five-star defensive lineman Bear Alexander backed off his commitment to Georgia on Monday afternoon and quickly announced that he would spend multiple days in Coral Gables before taking his official visit that begins Friday June 11.

That is big for Miami who is set to host their largest group of official visitors this summer, which includes quarterback commit Jacurri Brown, wide receiver commit Quan Lee, Top247 athlete and Florida commit Isaiah Bond, Top247 cornerback Jacolby Spells, Top247 wide receiver Jayden Gibson and four-star tight end Kaden Helms amongst others.

InsideTheU learned that Alexander is a guy that defensive line coach Jess Simpson and recruiting staffer Ed Pata have been working on behind the scenes for some time. Sources in Coral Gables feel good about the relationship that those guys have built with the Lone Star State native and his father.

The 6-foot-3, 325-pounder is expected to arrive in South Florida on Wednesday, which will keep him around the program for five days. Last weekend, Alexander was in College Station on an official visit to Texas A&M, who some view as the leader in the recruitment following his decommitment, but Miami has done a good job showcasing their program over the last seven days or so and could potentially make a move with the defensive lineman, similar to what they've done with another five-star defensive lineman in Shemar Stewart.

Wide net has been cast for DT recruiting. Bear Alexander, Alton Tarber, Jordan Phillips, Quentel Jones, Anthony Lucas, Zane Durant, Daniel Lyons, and Jaamal Wyche all have visited or anticipate visiting campus this month. Makes me wonder which ones have the green light.
I know we can't overload in any one position group, but ****. We've got to find a way to sign 3 of these guys.

I think if we sign Bear it replaces Tarber in the class. I’d imagine we’d close the class at DT if we had Bear and Lyons committed.
I hear you. My brain says two makes sense because we have other needs. But how do you turn away Tarber or Durant if they want in, too?

Guess that would be a great problem to have. I'm greedy in the trenches. I'd go for any 3 of Bear, Tarber, Lyons, Durant. That's championship caliber DT talent all the way.
