New NHC Cone, Tropical Depression 16 forms (NATE)

Didn't they play two games last year in North Carolina with a low category Hurricane Matthew looming nearby? Notre Dame vs. NCState and whoever UNC played.

They did and all coaches, even the winners called it the most ridiculous thing they had ever scene

Here’s the thing: UM did set a reasonable, valid precedent with Arky State. Our players DID need to prepare to ride out Irma, even if nobody in Jonesboro understood that because their program was desperate for their 900 Grand.

However, canceling UM/FSU would be totally different. It’s the game of the year for both schools and is worth a lot more for both programs.

Unless this thing does something totally unexpected, which none of the experts are predicting, this game gets played. Like I said before, worst-case scenario, Friday. Most likely if it changes it’ll be noon on Saturday. Until there’s further information, and that that’s going take time, there really is nothing else to say

Ridiculous the people are even mentioning this game being canceled. There is an infinitesimally small chance of that happening

Right now, per NHC, Nate is projected to be a Cat 1 hitting the pan handle on Sunday morning. That's what is expected at this time. With time needed for boarding up and getting supplies in prep for a direct hit to Tally, I think at this point it would take something unexpected for the game to be played.

Wait I take it back, you’re right - the game will be canceled. People can only prepare and board their homes for a very minor cat one storm (at max, per current predictions) during the three hours that the game will be played.

This currently minor tropical storm will change the laws of space and time, compressing the available preparation time to exactly the three hours when the game is being played.

As of right now NHC is calling for a Cat 1. There is potential for rapid intensification based on conditions in the GOM (see Harvey). You really think it makes sense to roll the dice to play a football game? If you cancel the game and it turns out to be a "minor tropical storm," you say oops and move on. You play the game and it turns out to be a major hurricane smacking Tally that players, coaches, staff, students etc. did not adequately prepare for because of a football game, you have a big problem.

Just move it here. Sucks for FSU, but that's how things work out sometimes.

We would run Riot if they played it here.

Coach Cuck will cancel before playing it here.

A shrewd move might be to play it in Camping World in Orlando. Next best thing to playing it in the Trailer Park.

A meaningful rivalry football game is still only a football game.

We’re not talking about a catastrophic life threatening storm. This will be inconvenient at most with the power out for awhile

One extra thing to add is that (RI) Rapid Intensification is not off of the table. If the system doesn't interact with land it will be sitting over the warmest waters in the basin with little to no shear or dry air. In the short term W Carib/S Gulf this thing could blow up rather quickly (important note: not an Irma) and become stronger than currently forecast by the NHC.
Get a life kid. Don't you have anything better to do than guess at what may or may not happen pertaining to weather and game. You are pathetic. If we play, fine. If we don't play, so be it.

tcgrad1014 is all in on this game being cancelled, while the people that actually know what they’re talking about haven’t even mentioned that yet as a possibility, but OK.

I understand this. The insurance liability issues alone are enough to give any AD a heart attack.

The players and coaches and support staff are supposed to be preparing for the storm when exactly? This is a dumb debate. This isn't Alabama. Football doesn't trump the safety and well being of people.

Agreed! I lost money on both those games. They were painful to watch, too.

But the conditions in Tallahassee wouldn't be anything like those. It's a matter of allowing time for FSU to "prepare" for the storm and getting us back home. Again, I think this thing ***** off a little more westward in future projects, and we become less concerned.

Move it to the GA Dome on Friday Night. No chance for anyone to back out. ESPN, if your there great. If not, let the players play and get this thing going TV or not

Only issue there is ATL is still in the cone for Sunday. The teams might not be able to go home until Monday or Tuesday. It's gonna be Friday night in Tally (huge FSU advantage) or Sat in MIA if this storm stays on it's track.

Just curious; why would you think Friday is a huge advantage for FSU? We played Friday, they played Saturday.

We get it, you're scared and want the game canceled.

You don't realize that this isn't Ark St, there is tremendous willpower to get this game played. It my not be played in Tally or it may be moved to Fri, but the game is getting played

gotta agree with this man here. either people are expected to prepare or not. they dont carve out a block of time for the community to enjoy itself at a football game utilizing valuable police fire etc resources in the process with a hurricane approaching.
