In case ya’ll missed the other news that came out of the Miami v. ND game last night:

Gotta love nike giving the cane legends shoes early to wear to the game. Huge stage and Nike shows up adidas at one of their "top" schools. It's embarrassing at this point and we need to make the switch. After listening to Ahmon and Pete talk about how all the kids want nike... what are we waiting for?

How about Nike make a better $ offer to Miami? You think Miami really gives a **** who they sign with? This is business. It’s all about $. Nike is the problem here, not Miami.

Come on, man, you know the formal offer can be made in January.

This is a premature report; PSU did a Request for Proposals to negotiate w another company. It’s still pending board approval, and there’s a ton of push back on this. Heard the board does not have this on their agenda currently, & this could be a move that Brazil did to get Nike to ante up their proposal.

But, as someone that absolutely loathe PSU, I hope it happens.

Revenue Certainty. Get used to that term, because I'm quite sure that's the word that got mentioned when PSU decided to leave Nike for Adidas. Nike's standard apparel deal is very incentive heavy, where you can make a ton, but what you make can vary. In a revenue sharing world, that isn't going to cut it anymore, because schools need to be able to count on some revenue. They can't afford to "potentially" make money, if the floor is relatively low, which is what Nike offers(Hence why they can afford to have such a large stable. If they had to give every school fair market value, it would get out of control quickly, and they would have to pick and choose).

That said, Nike isn't going to take this lying down, don't be shocked if the next big Adidas school to come on the market, Nike steps up and makes a huge offer, ala Tennessee a decade ago. Guess who that is? MIAMI. So, Nike cultists, you may get your wish, while people like me, who see this as a business deal, will also be happy with the arrangement. If Nike offers a mega deal, I'm all in. Let the bidding war begin!
