MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

Is it true that Nike owns those shades of orange and green? Sounds dumb but would explain why Adidas always gets colors wrong. I remember seeing Michigan fans complain about the shade of blue / yellow used in adidas uniforms before switching to Jordan.

So it’s kind of a tricky ?; yes & no….to create a certain color palette, it’s a blend. When Nike became the original outfitters, they had the original color templates. Those color templates became proprietary. So even though Michigan’s colors r Navy Blue & Maize, Nike had the formula to create the Maize when Adidas had to mimic w/o having the right combination.

To illustrate think about a gumbo recipe by a world renowned chef:
Their gumbo is 1 of 1, but someone else may come in and try to replicate that recipe w/o knowing the exact measurements of each spice & ingredient. At the end of the day it’s still gumbo, but the flavor profile won’t be the same, something will be just off.

That’s basically Nike’s jerseys vs Adidas; when u do a side by side, even our older joints, u’ll see the shades r just a bit off b/c they don’t have the proprietary shade combos.

Notable changes:

1. The red is reminiscent of the Ray Rice version of Rutgers football, creating more of a pop than Adidas’ version

2. Didn’t realize this until one of the homies put me up, but Rutgers have been in a uni chasis from 2022. Adidas made several updates w their material since then. The only change was the logo. Rutgers prior uniforms had no collar, & the new Nike unis will

3. The wood mark of Rutgers has been emboldened to stand out

4. Font change

Rutgers like Auburn chose to remain traditional. They may have an alternate in the future, but they went old school w/ their early 2000’s look. Maybe Greg is trying to restore that level of success by leaning on the past.

Wait, you mean to tell me that a school can CHOOSE to have traditional uniforms? And that Nike cannot FORCE a school to wear bra-straps and pro-combat and whatnot?

Shocking. Somebody should tell our old ADs about this (at least the ones that are still alive, which rules out Paul Dee and Dan Radakovich)...

I mean:

-UGA
-Bama
-OSU
-UT
-PSU
-USC
-Tulane

Now
AU
UCLA
Rutgers
Hawai’i

All have their classic unis, & only a couple of them have one off alternates.

Just noticed this on a tweet by Joe Brown...maybe nothing but check the shoes

Maybe I need my eyes changed but I don’t see anything mind blowing there

I get that it’s nothing really that crazy of a difference

-The shade of red is back to its original
-The font has been adjusted, along w/ a black outline to make the wood mark of Rutgers more pronounced
-The jersey now features a performance collar
-The logos have been symmetrically & strategically placed away from Rutgers creating a cleaner canvas & more visibility to the school.

Again, Rutgers wanted to remain traditional; Nike simply came in w better material, some slight branding adjustments, while keeping the unis OG like Nike’s early 2000’s when Greg first got the job. So literally “minor” adjustments. The collar, & color r going to be the most notable changes…that, & the availability of merchandise.

I wanted to highlight this. It's hard to prove "intent", but I've seen a lot of t-shirt/jersey designs where adidas is definitely trying to get the 3-stripes as close to our logos/names/designs as possible, and as large as possible.

But this one was VERY egregious:

Im assuming Nike owns the color rights to that Red? Its clear to see the difference there. I dont have a huge issue with adidas putting the BIG logo and adidas logo close to Rutgers, it kind of keeps it tight. There's definitely slight nuances there but both dont look bad for Rutgers.

I personally prefer Nike over Adidas in general but just having a convo here.

I have no problem stating this for all to hear:

This jersey right here is the worst jersey created in the history of jerseys. From pop warner to flag football all the way up to the nfl everything about this jersey highlights how bad adidas is at making football jerseys.

Didn’t think u were being a contrarian or anything vs. asking legitimate ?’s. U’re not the only one to make that statement, including Rutger fans. Lol.

But yes, they have the right formula for that shade, although to be đź’Ż, even that shade is slightly different than the original. Shade hues become obsolete over a period of time; even retros can look a slight different depending on how long ago the OGs were made.

My homegirl (frat sister) just entered into the apparel industry. She’s been ordering the same shirts for the past yr; well, this particular order she kept complaining something was a little off w the shade of blue she used for the lettering. Sure enough, it was a bit duller. We go up to the manufacturer, & he was 1st impressed that we caught that, but secondly he explained that the base blue hue used was no longer available, so the gradient was slightly darker to make it at close as possible.

It happens all the time in the fashion/apparel industry. Even Nike’s trademarked colors like Volt, University Blue has been slightly altered over the yrs, but it’s as close to 1 of 1 b/c of the base formula.

I’m going to come back to this post in a second, but I’ve stated b4 that Adidas will go out of its way to promote their brand, 1st, then its partner. I’ll post other examples of this.

Guys taking some pictures .. new material looks nice . Guys that are wearing retired numbers wearing a special patch
They've been doing that in football and basketball. Barrow had a patch last year because he wore #10. Nijel Pack wore one because he wore #24 in hoops. It's a great way to recognize the history of the program.
