MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

It’s not particularly close:
-I’ve felt & compared UWs old Nike jerseys vs. Adidas’ newest jersey template as one of my homies played for UW in the early 2000’s, & as an alum he gets gear.

-I’ve felt & compared Army’s 2005 Adidas jerseys vs. 2006 (when they made the switch to Nike) from my relative who’s a West Point alum & former player (will be promoted to Colonel in literally 2 days).

-I’ve felt & compared Miami’s fan jersey from 2014 vs. 2023.

-I’ve felt & compared the NFL jerseys from 2011 (when Reebok was a subsidiary of Adidas) v. 2012 after they struck a deal w Nike.

When I speak on aesthetics, material, functionality, etc. it’s not a biased observation. If Adidas was a superior brand, the #1 sports apparel brand w/ a reputation of producing winners, I would want us in that. They r not, & when it comes to American sports they r 2 decades behind. Their designs r from Nike’s old playbook; ****:

-Donovan Mitchell’s new shoe drew “inspiration” from Gary Payton’s Glove shoe

-James Harden’s new silhouette that’s about to releases drew “inspiration” from Nike Comme De Garçon’s Air Foamposites.

If there r two brands that r constantly sued by Nike it’s Adidas & Skechers b/c both brands r constantly coming behind like sloppy seconds. With that said, to Adidas credit, they do have some great OG designs, & truthfully Kanye allowed them to think outside the box (which is y he’s been ranting against them stealing his designs w/o pay, while Adidas says anything he designed under contract is theirs to use at their discretion).

Regardless, the reviews of the new show the team/public will be getting are great, so at least while we’re under this albatross of a contract (which I will be highlighting as soon as I’m done working out), the fans can be satisfied w both this model & the Gazelles which I thought Adidas did a good job on.
Yea every time I have gotten Adidas in the past it felt cheaper quality then Nike.....if it were better I would definitely say they were I got no allegiance to a corporation.

OK, so I wanted to place a full spotlight on the absolute incompetence of Blake James as an AD, & furthermore the malpractice of Miami’s BOT for signing off on this:

Miami switched from Nike to Adidas officially on July 31, 2015, w/ the contract set to expire July 31, 2027. At the time, it was heralded as a landmark deal, making Miami one of the highest paid schools in CFB. However, as more details began to leak, it soon became apparent this deal was a favorable one for Adidas. The initial report was that our deal would be roughly around $8m, but it was soon discovered that it was closer to the $6.8-$7.2 range.

Again on paper this looked great, until u realized this was primarily in apparel & merchandise. It also leaked royalties were excluded from this deal. I just want to show how egregious this deal was compared to the following:

-In August 2015, Texas A&M extended Adidas for a 8 yr term at $7.1m + royalties. They renewed again in 2023 for 5 yrs $47m + royalties. In case u’re keeping up, Texas A&M has had two contract renewals at a higher evaluation in the same time frame we’ve been stuck in our one.

-In August 2014, UL extended Adidas for a 5 yr term at $7.4m + royalties. Before UL’s 5 yr extension was set to expire in 2019, Adidas replaced that contract in Aug. 2017 with a brand new 10 yr term at $160m. Again in case u’re keeping up: our deal, compensation wise, was on par w/ UL. Adidas. Despite the success we had w Richt (e.g. in 2016-17 we were 9-4 w/ a bowl victory while UL was 9-4 coming off a bowl loss), Adidas decided to make UL the highest paid ACC team prior to the original extension expiring.

-In July 2013, KU signed a 6 yr term at $6.5m/yr which was set to expire July 2019. Once again out of nowhere, Adidas in July 2017, replaces the 2013 contract 2 yrs early with a new 14 yr $196m contract + royalties. [See above for the same situation]

-In June 2013, Nebraska signed a 50/50 apparel deal (cash/equipment) for 5 yrs at approx. $3m/per. In June 2018, Nebraska renewed the same 50/50 deal, this time for 11 yrs at approx. $12m/yr.

-In July 2018, UW also signed a 50/50 deal with Adidas similar to Nebraska’s payout ($12m/yr)

-In July 2016 NCSt extended Adidas for 6 yrs at approx. $6.5m/ yr. They renewed again in 2022, & while the details of the contract was not made public, their AD said it was a considerable increase from their previous contract w NIL implications.

While we’ve been stuck others have benefited two folds; so I don’t want to hear that Adidas has been a good partner for us. We were suckered into a sweetheart deal for them, & other schools, including our rivals in the ACC benefited & have lapped us during this time frame.

is there even new Miami Adidas apparel? even miamihts has no new Adidas shorts and just a bunch of champion ones (which prolly fit better if were being honest)

Good ****; yeah, that’s another thing my guy said. He said as he’s gotten older in running, while he still likes The Nike Vaporfly, the heel-forefoot ratio from Nike compared to Adidas is a bit, too, aggressive by comparison.

I don’t have that issue, but I can definitely understand. I think Hoka & Brooks is even better in this department.
Hokas are legit. My wife is an RN and she introduced me to them, and honestly, they are by far the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. The issue is that they are also some of the least stylish shoes in my closet. That said, unless there's a certain reason why I have to pull out a pair of Adidas or Nikes(usually based on wearing branded apparel), I'm rocking my Hokas. They've replaced my air maxes as my "Doing absolutely nothing" shoes.

Hokas & On Cloud r top tier in regards to advanced comfort. The only issue I’ve heard w On Cloud is u want get the durability mileage on them like Adidas or Nike comfort shoes.

I saw a couple about a week or two ago; he had on some On Clouds & u could see the foam cracking and ripping on the soles. Also heard they’re not the best if u have a wide foot, plus their price point is a bit off compared to a much more sturdy and durable Hoka shoe.

I think I've raised this point 10 times in 10 years. Same time of the year, every year.

adidas is terrible on timeliness. From the "Miami Nights" jersey that was not for sale until AFTER the Miami Nights game...to new styles that are not on the shelves prior to football season...it's the same-old, same-old.

I understand teasing a shoe release for a month or two. But invariably, August rolls around and the new adidas clothing is not yet available.

Caneswear-UM-New Arrivals-Men: 34 items. 23 are NOT adidas.

Of the 11 adidas items, FOUR of them are standard/boring "Issued by Hurricanes" t-shirts. Another THREE are "Miami Football" t-shirts. Nothing else. Just "Miami Football". TWO t-shirts just say "It's All About the U". That describes 9 of the 11 "New Arrivals" items made by adidas. Colosseum has produced more new gear.

Pathetic.

they should use a portion of marios salary and just buy out of the adidas deal now.

Go to the adidas website.

Type in "Miami Hurricanes".

69 items will come up. NINETEEN are actually Miami items.

FIFTY are just non-UM items that are some combination of orange, green, white, and/or black.

Seriously.
side question: why the **** is adidas charging nearly 40 bucks for a shirt and 65 bucks for shorts?

like who the **** priced this out?

you may as well get alo, lulu, vuori which isnt much more expensive at that point for much higher quality.

Agreed. The t-shirt prices are bad.

For shorts, I just wait for stuff to go on sale or clearance.

I’ve been wanting us to get out of the adidas deal since August 1, 2015…been 10 long years of such inferior fan apparel from adidas it’s truly mind blowing. I was on campus last week, swung by allcanes and the campus book store…the lack of fan apparel variety and quality was stunning.

Please lord, bring us back to Nike or JB…I will open up the wallet to buy Nike or JB Miami gear with the power of 1000 suns

Seriously.

Perusing a couple of other FL schools:

UCF x Nike site has 42 branded items including T’s, Jerseys, Hats, Bucket Hats, Hoodies, & Football.

FSU x Nike site has 119 branded items

UF x Nike has 95 branded items

Miami x Adidas has 19 branded items like u mentioned.

If U go to Fanatics it’s the same thing; yes, they have more selections than Adidas directly as they also have clearance items, but the vast majority of team items r going to be from Colosseum or Champion, & it’s not close.

Last year's Miami Adizero SL2 (orange with white stripes) is selling for $56.00 on adidas right now...

60% off...plenty of sizes available...

And some of these porsters are trying to tell us that the adidas merch sells as well as the Nike merch...
I almost pulled the trigger on these. Added them to my cart. Figured at that price why not.

They were sold out of 11’s by the time I went back to it. Few hours later. So Miami fans are telling you where your price point needs to be to move units. And $160 isn’t the number.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think Adidas makes shoes that are stylish and comfortable and have worn them for a while. I started wearing Nikes again a few years ago, and they are more comfortable than Adidas.

Adidas has made some nice UM apparel over the years.

As far as uniforms go for the football team, Adidas made some terrible uniforms for UM early on (but the Nike uniforms were bad at the end), but they generally look pretty good right now.

Having said all that, UM should try to go back to Nike.

Holy ****...

Calling @Rellyrell ...
