New Fullback

Good news, he's allergic to sunshine

Prolly not even 6 foot. But if at or near 265, with those weight room measurables he's a mack truck in the red zone or short yardage to plow a path. Will watch.

265 and strong is nice. Can he move well enough to get where he needs to be and not just get in the RBs way causing more problems? Can he get around the corner and seal the edge?

Evidently richt and brown believe he can and thats why they offered.

That's deep. Thanks for the enlightening contribution. You're the guy always crying about UM's lack of talent, and now you're ready to goat yourself over a D2 FB.

Once again your lack of knowledge of football is coming out. The guy is a fullback. A blocking fullback is the least talented guy on offense and probably the entire team.

Its not like he will be on the field every play. You dont have to be a 5 star recruit to play fullback.

You continue to struggle to function at a level above profound retardation. You can't be a good FB, which is all that matters, without being fast enough to get around the edge to put a hat on someone before they beat you to the ball carrier. Otherwise, you could just plug anyone into that position and not waste a scholarship, numbnuts.

Here's the thing, I've seen several guards pull and get around the edge. Why am I to believe this guy can't do what most 300 pound tubbies can do?

Hopefully he'll be decent like another Williams at FB from some years ago (Nick Williams, Farmington Hills Harrison HS from the Butch era)...

I think he's about the same size as Nick Williams - at least that's what his name was - he changed it about the time he went to the pros....

Miami Hurricanes add scholarship fullback Marquez Williams to roster | Canes Watch

Marquez Williams will join the Hurricanes from Division 2 Mars Hill (N.C.), program sources told the Post. He will be on scholarship. Williams, who had no major college offers out of high school in 2012, is listed at 6-foot and 265 pounds. He will be a redshirt sophomore at UM this fall.

I still think Chris Herndon is going to get a majority of the snaps at FB/HB anyway. This guy is a graduate transfer. Maybe he becomes a short yardage extra blocker for a season and he's gone next year anyway. The coaches must believe he's an upgrade over Batten.

247 said he is a rs sophmore.

He just graduated from Mars Hill. He was class of 2012. He RS in 2012, played in 2013, no info for 2014 and played in 2015. Should be coming in as a RS junior for 2016 on the field, that graduated in the classroom. Thats why he can transfer with no penalty.
So he's a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining? Never seen that before.

No sure why it's being reported he's a RS soph.. he played in 2013 and 2015, meaning he has 2 years left. Grad transfers have the remaining year after graduation to play elsewhere because they RS at one point. He has 2 years because of a RS in 2012 and whatever he did in 2014 (medical RS maybe?).

I'd rather have a hybrid at FB that can run and catch.

Yep.

Pre season first team all conference TE. I guess he can catch a little bit.

"At the tight end position, Marquez Williams from Mars Hill earned first-team honors. Williams caught seven balls for 100 yards and a score for the Lions a season ago."

7 whole catches?

7 catches for 100 yards is pretty impressive ypc for a fullback who isn't targeted much or even on the field much.

Something is wrong if your FB has many more than 7 catches. Just like Duke being the 3rd leading receiver on the team a few years ago

- so he signed with Mars Hill in 2012.
-redshirts 2012, he's a redshirt freshman in 2013: 2013 Mars Hill Football Roster - Mars Hill University
- redshirt freshman again in 2014?: 2014 Mars Hill Football Roster - Mars Hill University

maybe he got hurt & didnt play?

2015 has him listed as a redshirt-soph: 2015 Mars Hill Football Roster - Mars Hill University

so he has 1 MAYBE 2 years eligibility left.

If you're redshirting at the D2 level, then you're generally a horrific player with no talent.

You really don't know what you don't know do you?

You do realize he was probably the best blocking TE in the conference, right? There's more to being a TE than just catching the ball. Dude looks like a good blocker.

All conference with 7 catches...WOW!
LMFAO!!!

No, there's only Franks, Shockey, Winslow, Olsen, etc types. The TE we have coming in next year looks to be a blocking TE or his team just didn't pass at all.

This **** is a physical beast. We need a FB who can lay da wood.

Appears that way. I'm glad he's not going to GT. He would have a field day there, but I'm betting he didn't have an offer (seems to be in question) or he sees more ways to be used in an offense of Richt's.

You need to go *****slap yourself and shut it down... You might be wrong on this one.
