New football league coming I see

The worst thing to happen to pro football was the NFL and AFL merger. The AFL games were really exciting. The concept of a Super Bowl pitting the champions of the two leagues was better than pitting conference champions.
Very underrated post.

Would be 1000000X more interesting if they can take kids straight out of high school

They then would be a "farm" league like baseball. It's a pipe dream that they would get any lucrative TV deal... not happening unless the NFL goes completely belly up.

It's completely privately financed by McMahon. He already said he isn't concerned with TV ratings because he's going to look at unconventional streaming platforms like YouTube and Amazon. 52 week contracts. I don't think it's going to work, but it's not the same model what-so-ever as its predecessor that was tied to NBC

Just off the top of my head... it could serve as farm for kids that need some income that can't get into college, and ultimately showcases talent and takes care of the 3 year wait out of high school to enter NFL.

I agree. Make it competition for the NCAA in the first 4 years, then have no age restriction. Not hard to compete when the NCAA allows $0.

Right out of high school with no drug testing. Bunch of junked up 18 and 19 year olds killing each other on the field. Id pay to see that...

I would love to see the NFL have to face up to some serious competition. Still won't happen yet, in part because I think the allegiances to the well-established teams are too deeply ingrained in most people. That could change, though. I used to consider myself a hardcore Dolphins fan. Had season tickets for many years. This past season, though, I don't think I watched a full single quarter of Dolphins football. To me, the NFL game has become so ponderous.

I completely agree. Our Dolphins team has 0 personality and it was an extremely boring season.

If they play during baseball season it will prolly garner more attention than baseball, i cant hardly watch that slow *** ****, 4 hour games etc

One interesting thing would be if the NFL said that if you ever play or practice in this unsanctioned league hyping itself as the alternative to our "sissy" league that you're never eligible to sign an NFL contract. That we're not taking the chance that you developed CTE playing for Vince McMahon.

I'm not sure the NFL would want to breathe life into the XFL by even acknowledging it but they'd certainly be justified in doing so after all the soapboxing and pearl clutching over concussions by the media.....the same media that'll at least initially flock to McMahon's spectacle.

I’m with u... went from long time season ticket holder to tv watcher to DVRing games to not even watching a single snap this year. Aside from the obvious mismanagement issues, I really didn’t like that Tebow/gator day they hosted on the canes home field.
