New Depth Chart

Exactly. Who cares who starts at Safety, they rotate after the 1st possession anyway. Honestly, besides Bush no other safety has separated himself. Dallas has been quietly bad and Carter really hasn't made a splash which is why Gunter is there on passing downs.

Fentress has been ballin' and is always around the ball and solid on special teams. Does it really matter who is on the field at the first whistle. They all will rotate so the argument really is mute.

I can haz a 4-3?

Golden mention getting pressure with 4 yesterday in the conference so i am assuming he plans on being in a lot of 4-3.

Or he could be talking about the nickel, which has been featuring Chad Thomas, Anthony Chickillo, Ufomba Kamalu/Olsen Pierre, and Tyriq McCord for the last 3 weeks.

Never understood the whining about a 4-3

The only difference is whether McCord stands up or puts his hand in the ground.

i'd say whatever we've been doing lately has been working alright.

here are the amount of snaps each player has taken, broken out by Daniel Gould

against UNC:
Bush: 37
Fentress: 35
Carter: 32
Crawford: 20

against va-tech:
Bush: 38
Fentress: 33
Crawford: 24
Carter: 21

against cinci:
Fentress: 51
Bush: 49
Carter: 42
Crawford: 40

Sleep on Fentress if you want, he's always around the ball.

Always around the ball< intercepting the ball, batting it down, jarring it loose

Rewatch the games, he's over Carter and Crawford for a reason.

No need. i know what he can do.

As i stated above. He benefits form being a buttkiss. Crawford is a corner so he isnt over him. And he is only over carter because he doesnt freelance. not because he is better than them.

He plays the role of what the coaches want the players to do.

But real coaches make a scheme around the players and their talents. Not bench them because they can't play in the system.

again, carter would do better playing Ss in more of a kam chanc type roll. Having him 30 yards off the l.o.s. getting cooked by great athletes in the open field. its just hard to do for anyone.

Especially a guy 6'2 2oo plus pounds.

His athletic skill set isnt built for that.

doesn't mean he's a bad football player. Just means coach needs to find a way to get him on the field in a way he can succeed. rather than shutting him out because he cant do what you want him to do.

Flowers will be playing. Not sure if he will start. I wouldn't mind duke returning kicks for this game.

This. I'm a Golden fan but I will be ****ed if Duke doesnt slip out there to return the kick down by a touchdown in the second half. Instant ball on 40 yd. line, or more.

This.

Folks need to go watch every snap that Dallas played in Nebraska.

You'll have much more of your answer as to why Fentress is playing so much after that.

This what? this is a prime example of a person who doesn't understand that the defensive calls and alignments are different from that game than they have been recently?

sure fentress is lighter and quicker than a lot of our safeties and it allows him to play in goldens scheme a little better than the others.

It does not mean he should start or that he is a better football player than our other safeties.

What could he do in a more aggressive system?

i doubt he survives.

I don't want to get into the discussion of who should be starting over whom. Rather, I'd like to point out that that chart has a bunch of mistakes regarding players' years. For instance, it lists Herb Waters as a SO and Malcolm Lewis as a R-FR (both R-SO) and Courtel Jenkins as a JR (FR). Weird.

Waters is a JR. Lewis a RS-SO

Exactly! Carter after he got abused I forgot what game it was. I was like his spot should be wide open. I don't know if he's in his playbook like he should be.

About 15 too many snaps for Fentress in the last two games IMO. Give them to Carter, and leave Bush in almost all game.

Only in extreme situations could I see putting Duke back at KR. It might be better for just about any drive for him to not be tired, than us start at 35-40. If he returns Kick, he might stay in, but have to come out once we cross the opponents 40, which is when he's the most important.
Plus it's risking injury.
Only situations I want to see Duke back there are if we really need to try to turn momentum in our favor, or if theres barely any time left on clock.

"Crawford is a corner so he isnt over him." Wow, Canesum5 is such a knowledgeable 'Canes fan that he doesn't know the difference between Antonio Crawford and Dallas Crawford. Yet he expects anyone to take his seriously when he's discussing (and typically trashing) the coaches and program.

It is interesting how some players in that hybrid position are either really good with hand in dirt or really good standing up.

yes, i slipped up. my bad. i can admit that.

Never trashed the program once. never. never rooted for us to lose or any of that crap. Just voiced my displeasure about a suck *** coaching staff.

Don't see the problem there. but whenever i think crawford i always think antonio for defense.

Not yet used to dallas on D.

But if this is what you post for then by all means you win sir.
