Great hire.

Mario learned from his first year. Hiring a 'superstar' doesn't always work. Jackson and Guidry have worked together and produced great results. He's an excellent recruiter and has developed all conference players at Marshall.
Superstar coaches don't want to put up with Mario **** if we're being honest. Mario is a difficult coach to work for so the young and hungry coaches are better fits for him. He has a Nick Saban personality but coaches don't mind dealing with Saban BS because they use that year or two as a stepping stone for a pretty much guaranteed HC job or Coordinator gig. That's not the case with Mario, you have to deal with his ego and work ethic with the possibility that you might not get that promotion you wanted.

The coaches who have failed under Mario at Miami or left for a lateral move
Josh Gattis
Charlie Strong
Kevin Smith
Frank Ponce

Coaches who have succeeded
Kevin Beard
Derek Nicholson
Lance Guidry
Jason Taylor
Alex Mirabal
Tim Harris JR

See the pattern?

Absolutely. Mario is a grinder and he expects the same of his coaches. Chevis Jackson, who won recruiter of the year in the MAC, should fit in well.

Gotta love that he’s a CBs coach, and not a Safeties coach like both Addae was and Guidry’s specialty is. This will allow Guidry to focus on his prime position and Chevis to lock in on CBs. Not too mention he was promoted to Co-DC at Marshall and a good recruiter in the MAC. I like the hire, and think this will be better than the Kentucky guy, since his background was safeties.

Todd Hartley was hired from Marshall and became a great recruiter for Richt here and now at UGA.
Jackson looks like a good coach and a young guy who can relate to recruits. Can’t wait to see him put in the work here.

No, coaches who can't/dont want to match Mario's work ethic/obsession over recruiting either don't want to work here or will fail here.

Mirabal and JT are considered elite position coaches and both have turned down top-5 program offers to stay here, in large part because their personalities/work ethic are similar to Mario.

If you just want to work 40 hours a week like Charlie Strong and rely on your name to draw recruits, yeah Mario and Miami are a bad choice

DNic came from Loserville and didn’t have some outstanding recruiting resume or 1st round talent… yet he seems to be killing it here

Kind of but I've read that Mario does rub a lot of coaches the wrong way.

I liked the idea of Cooper but I’m totally fine with Guidry getting his guy. Especially since it seems like the LSU fanbase is pretty high on him.
