Nebraska DL transfer Keona Davis is transferring to Miami

Initially, my reply was solely to say that with the DE rotation you listed, there really is no difference between the first two on either side (imo Lightfoot will be one of the stars on defense next year) and then I noticed Lowe is all the way 5th on one of the depth charts!!...and you can't even really argue about it lol (Scroggins was playing in the playoffs).

This has the makings of the deepest and most talented defensive line at Miami in decades.
I listed them in order by class and the way I believe they will be used not by playing order.

I agree with Lightfoot being one of the starts of the group. In the NIL/Portal era it’s almost impossible to have this level of quality depth at such a high value position.

In the age of the 12 team playoff my theory is that every room has to have one more able bodied guy in there to be considered true depth. So if having 3 running backs at one time was considered 'deep', you probably need 4 nowadays, and so on...

That was my point about DT last year. We were barely able to field guys by the NC game. Got incredibly lucky Moten was able to go. Mario has fixed that problem this year. But OL is too thin now, TE is a major problem, and of course QB is crazy scary.

as of of now we have 5 LEGIT cbs (oj, brown, lucas, oconnor, slime) and four legit safeties in poyser, fitzergald, thornton (nickel), and pruitt ... that's just based on the national championship caliber team we just fielded ... haven't included one frosh or improved guy ... we straight
There’s Dylan Day, the freshman’s: Dunnigan, Redding, and Jennings. I don’t see a problem with the DB depth at all.

i was trying to be precise based on our current roster/depth ... your right day got good burn in the playoffs, he's a piece too ... didn't include frosh to make a point that there's legit guys who have cfp experience WITHOUT including a frosh who could splash ala fitzgerald

Miami went back to the transfer portal and added another defensive lineman.

Nebraska’s transfer defensive lineman Keona Davis announced Saturday afternoon that he’s heading to Coral Gables to join the Hurricanes’ defensive front, which is already stacked with high level talent.

Davis started on the Cornhuskers’ line and this past season racked up 32 tackles, one sack, and a pass deflection. The Tucson, Arizona, native still has two seasons of eligibility and should only get better with more playing time.

The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder spent two years at Nebraska, already bringing plenty of experience with 42 career tackles and 1.5 sacks since joining college football.

The Big Ten transfer is now the eighth full-time scholarship player Miami has added from the portal this cycle, with more moves expected.

The DB depth is concerning. I hope we get moving on that soon.
As long as no one else jumps in the portal, I don’t think there is anything to worry about at DB.

Don’t know if he’s still 275 but he survived as a starter in the B1G at whatever weight he is. Only time he played Edge was when they were in 3 down from what I’ve seen

Got some nice quickness and good moves. Taller guy but still doesn’t stand up straight at the point of attack! Love this pick up! Needs to gain 10-15 LBs during the offseason and then we can unleash him as the man in 2027!
