You strike me as the kind of guy who thinks it's not *** to enjoy sucking d!cks in prison because you are just making the best of your available options.
To use your country club analogy, let's say the country club has a membership waiting list 5 years long, a mid-6 figure annual membership fee, and only members are allowed to play in the country club tournament. The country club president wants to let his buddy play in the tournament but his friend is on the waiting list, so the club president creates a special one day membership pass written on the back of a napkin and his buddy wins the tourney. All the other country club members have every reason to be upset since they were supposedly in this highly exclusive club and being forced to pay exorbitant fees. If the Club Prez said, "What's the big deal, he was a member because I gave him a one day membership pass" a lot of members would say that's bullsh!t and try to get a refund of their fees to go to join a club that doesn't let a Club Prez change the rules to benefit his friends.
Ultimately, the guy who is being allowed to skate here is Blake James. It sounds like the ACC had to vote to let ND get a one year trial membership. If James voted to allow ND to be part of the conference this year, he should be fired. That's a breach of his duty- he was willing to ***** his own school because of the pipe dream that ND is going to join the ACC. If ND had guaranteed, in writing, that it would join the conference three years from now if allowed to be a full member this year, then I wouldn't have any objection. I haven't heard of any guarantee so by the looks of it, Blake James voted to give away Miami's spot for no good reason. Fortunately there are a few coaches with balls like Pat Narduzzi who basically said "F-ck ND if they don't want to be full members, they can go play BYU 10 times." I would like to hear Diaz say something similar.
