Napier...

This is a bad rumor coming from some dunce on Canesport who said his brother-in-law is friend's with Jedd Fisch and that Jedd said that is who Richt is targeting. First and foremost, its a lateral move for the guy and there is no chance we are going to outbid Bama.

Would be an absolute HR. Guy was OC at Clemson at the age of 29, and recruiting coordinator and pulled together the #2 rated class. In his first season as Clemson's coordinator, the 2009 Tigers scored a school-record 436 points and scored 54 touchdowns (third-most in school history), averaged 5.73 yards per play (fourth best) and finished as the ACC Atlantic Division champions. Went to Bama as offensive analyst, then with McElwain to Colorado State to coach QB's. Then came back to Bama. Guy has been surrounded by great coaches, knows what it takes to win, can recruit, has plenty of experience, and has been successful.
What kind of a career arc is that? He was oc over a great offense, recruited the #2 class, he was young, and then his next gig is an analyst position, follows by qb coach, to wr coach. Just seems odd

pretty sure dude tanked and was canned. however, the "analyst" position is one of saban's many [infamous] "non-coaching" positions that probably involves a lot of gopher work along with the football side. saban picked that up from belichick in cleveland where they had eric mangini, scott pioli, thomas dimitroff, and jim schwartz on staff in similar "non-coaching" roles. he uses that to see how willing his young/new staff is willing to work and then makes promotions as he sees fit.

Wouldn't be a lateral move at all, and, like I said the other day, Richt might be holding that co-OC title along with an AHC title for a big time WR coach hire. This guy would fit that bill. He'd also get a big raise.

So let's see...based on what I've been reading on these boards the last 24 hours, Dorsey is leaving the NFL to be a college QB coach without play calling duties, and Bama's WR coach is making a lateral move to join Richt's staff. Sounds legit.

We saved money with the DC.

Don't think it will happen but it wouldn't be a lateral move. He would likely be co-oc as well. That would give him some input in the offense and gameplaning and he isn't doing that at bama.

Would not be a lateral move.

Thomas Brown is making 600k + as CO-OC.

The offer to Napier as CO-OC (assuming its true) would be the same or more.

He is making 300k at Bama and is not a coordinator.

Some of you guys are delusional. We just hired a bartender and a HS coach to coach our DB's but we're going to pull Napier from Bama. I get that the coach Kool hire set the bar pretty high but I think that was the one rabbit Richt had in his hat.

CMR is not a coordinator. He is the head coach.

"Coordinator" and "Play Caller" can be two different things even though they are somtimes intertwined.

Jimbo Fisher has always had and offensive coordinator to teach and implement his system, but he calls plays.

The trend today is to have CO-OC's.

Jimbo has Randy Sanders and Lawrence Dawsey as his CO-OC's.

Thomas Brown is a CO-OC....guaranteed there will be another CO-OC and it will not be CMR. I also guranatee it will be someone with experience because one half of the current OC puzzle, Thomas Brown, has none.

We will also have a dedicated QB coach. It might be Jon Richt. Every major college program with a QB centric head coach has a separate QB coach. Coaching QB's is a full time job and probably the most important position on the staff.

Jon Richt could get the gig if the CO-OC coaches the WR but has QB coaching experience

This is Total BS, it would be a dumb *** move to come here with Richt calling the plays...that makes no sense for Napier... Get that banana out of f my tail pipe

Banda is one of the most important coaching hires we made.

Will help Diaz tremendously in the teaching and implementation of the system.

Recruiting is about personality...he must have some as a former bartender.

What happened after that bio excerpt you bolder? You don't volunteer to go from P5 OC to video quality guy.

He got fired for savagery. I don't mind it.

Might not be as big of a hire as Kool but he's probably a hotter commodity, if that makes sense.

Doubling your salary and having a coordinator title is a "dumb *** move"?

Explain why.

Not to mention that he's still below Monte Kiffin's son in the Bama power structure. Here he'd answer only to Richt. That said, I'd like to see more soresez than a random Twitter follow.
