Want to do a little series every few days on former players and how they rank towards canes fans.
Doing my list based on career achievements, leadership, ability, statistical, and impact towards the Canes teams of past. This one will probably be longer than my other lists later on. Cause we have quite a few who have came through here.
1. Michael Irvin
2. Andre Johnson
3. Santana Moss
4. Reggie Wayne
5. Leonard Hankerson
6. Lamar Thomas
7. Eddie Brown
8. Horace Copeland
9. Wesley Carroll
10. Randal Hill
11. Brian Blades
12. Dale Dawkins
13. Kevin Williams (Would have him in my top 10 if he had just a little more production at receiver, but he brought impact to the pass and special teams games.)
14. Yatil Green (The prototype wide receiver. Injuries killed him, had a bright future in the NFL.)
15. Allen Hurns
16. Andre Brown
17. Travis Benjamin
18. Brett Perriman
19. Roscoe Parrish
20. Stanley Shakespeare
Honorable Mention:
Phil August
Rocky Belk
Magic Benton
Larry Brodsky
Stacy Coley (Active)
Phillip Dorsett (Active)
Tony Gaiter
Jammi German
Darnell Jenkins
Chris T Jones
Lance Leggett (I know, I know. Regression)
Ryan Moore (I know, I know. Regression)
Sinorice Moss
Darryl Spencer
Tommy Streeter
A.C. Tellison
Pat Walker
Herb Waters (Active)
3 active players in my honorable mention. Obviously I think Coley could end up being the best or one of the best to come through here, had probably best freshman season for a Cane receiver I've seen since Wayne, and Coley had more of an impact all around than Wayne did back then.
Dorsett and Waters could make my top 20 pending how strong they finish their careers. I look at Dorsett as our modern day Randall Hill. Just... Hill made more clutch catches than Dorsett. Dorsett legacy would be even stronger if he was able to reel in those 2 TDs against ND two years back and didn't get injured a year ago, but a good final season could vault him in my top 20. Waters first two seasons have been good and improvement in both, if it continues, easily walks in my top 20.
Now what's yours?
