I honestly feel midway through the season he decided to retire. Once he found out he had to fire his son at the end of the year and hire an OC he called a quits.

It was evident in his recruiting when multiple elite level kids stated he barely recruited them.

It was evident in his coaching by sticking with Rosier and not

It was evident with the lack of disciple in the locker room which was evident during the bowl preparation.

If he knew he was going to retire at years end, the move SHOULD have been made to announce his retirement and name Manny the future HC in November. The team probably would have played with more fire and the recruits would have had an idea what in story for the future before signing day.

Also would have saved the buyout and not made the program look in disarray. All in all I think Richt did some things to get this back on track.

Remember when coach brown tried to say something about something in the lockerroom
Cancerous and not enough leaders or something like that? Then Mark Richt minutes tried to deny that, turns out coach brown was more than right on that

Just because one think one will retire doesn't mean they just give up all together. You still have a legacy and a commitment to the kids, school, etc. I don't think he just became a dead man walking and threw in the towel but collected a paycheck. That's not really his personality. He is a public figure. Nobody tried to torpedo their legacy. He just didn't win with the decisions he made. End of story. There isn't some great conspiracy you've uncovered here.

Not to mention those offensive assistants can surely thank Richt that they are employed right now (outside of Searles who knew brown)

Doesn't it make more sense that he was running out of energy but hadn't decided to retire? He didn't take the buy-out, so why would he ***** Miami by letting Manny leave then retiring?

I get that you're trying to explain how he could have done so much worse than the year before, but I don't think you've found the reason. Also, can we just stfu about Richt now?

Probably why he didn’t want his nephew coming to play Qb at Miami; instead he comitted to LSU

That’s obviously not true. He’s a good man and has no malacious intentions. If he did he would have forced us to fire him. He left 16 million on the table for the better of the program. What really happened was that although he was trying his best, it just wasn’t good enough for this era. He wanted a bunch of choir boys and there aren’t many of those in our roster so he started the only quarterback who was good off the field. He wanted to run an outdated offense and getting away with being more talented than anyone else even though we aren’t good enough for that bs yet. He tried recruiting and that evident with how much time he spent on the road. He spend more time on the road this December than any head coach I have ever seen. Recruits didn’t come because we sucked. Richt tried his best and when he realized that wasn’t good enough he let go.
