My Post Game recap

2003? Excellent D, but Berlin sucked balls that year.
Same scenario. Coker kept putting him under center. Had he left him in shot gun, who knows what would have happened that season. Square peg in a round hole seems to be a way of life at UM since the o$u robbery in the desert!

I said we’d win out last week, and I think we will. And Rickety will declare everything fixed because of better execution. Dummies will buy it.

Perry was good today, but this offense is still trash. Vag Tech is absolutely decimated and is nowhere near the team they were last year.

Carter is going to step right in. He’s a very smart physical kid. And he made a couple nice plays in coverage today on a very good and fast TE.

I have a funny one, how many of our QBs would have run into the pull in the Qb keeper where Perry roll outside untouched! Heady play by the young man

I thought the same thing. For a guy who doesn’t study his craft, he’s naturally very smart and instinctive out there. Rosier ducks his head and loses a yard on that play for sure.

Agreed Chise, Va Tech has been missing their starting QB & most of their DL/LB's all year. I give the boys credit for getting the W but I'm under no illusion that everything's fine now.

Our best hope is that Richt has to be forced hire an OC or else people will be tricked into drinking the Kool-aid again & starting off the year vs UF will be a repeat of LSU this year.

I'm still not convinced we beat Pitt next week, not that we shouldn't because we're obviously more talented than them but the Narduzzi loves to be in these types of situations where he gets to sh*t on our parade & their Offense is red hot right now. Diaz is gonna have to continue to put it on the Defense's shoulders getting them motivated out of spite of the Offense to carry the team, because the O is just too inconsistent to bank on them showing up even at home.

Richt gonna use this game and the game next week when he will have to go 5 wide to say he’s got it and doesn’t need an OC..He’s got this.

Not looking for changes in the off season but that’s just me.

Unless The Pastor is forced to make changes he’s shown he doesn’t fire coaches and we all know Flake ain’t got the balls to DEMAND change.

Hope I’m wrong.

Carter next year is going to be huge for us. It could be a weekly “man I miss JJ and Redwine” thread next year.

Need Gurvan Hall to get caught up in a hurry.

Always look forward to your recaps LCE.

The pick Shaq made was classic. He was puttin' some moves on during the run back.

Saw Hillery with #33. Did I miss something?

Sure hope Jordan and Mallory are OK.

Did seem to open the playbook up some but continues to run the same **** plays back to back except maybe the other side of the field.

Offense:

N'Kosi Perry - 21/33 171yds 2TD's, 9att 16yds 1TD
Cam'ron Davis - 7att 77yds 1TD, 1rec 16yds 1TD
Travis Homer - 12att 69yds, 2rec 21yds
Jeff Thomas - 4rec 32yds, PR 51yds 1TD
Will Mallory - 3rec 28yds
Deejay Dallas - 3rec 24yds
Lawrence Cager - 1rec 33yds
Mark Pope - 1rec 16yds

339yds total offense, 7/15 on 3rd down with 31:19 in time of possession.

Perry played well, made some really nice runs to extend drives something he actually does quite often. The Deep passing game still isn't there, he can throw well down the field just doesn't have the continuity with the WR's to connect on a regular basis. But I like that we utilized the short intermediate pass game to open up the run game.

Killa Cam! Great game by Cam, he's a real nice North/South runner hits the whole with burst & goes. He's going to have a bright future in Miami, kid is great talent. IMO, Cam & Lingard need to be the top backs next year if Homer goes to the draft. I like Deejay a lot but I think he's better in the utility role as a RB/WR & not just solely as a RB.

JT4! That was one **** of a Punt Return! Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was the first PR TD we've had since Berrios 2016 vs FAMU. Bout **** time!

Really hate to see Brevin go down the way he did, hope it's nothing too serious. And I hope Mallroy is good to next week as well.

Still too many drops by this receiving Corp from Wiggins & Cager. They make plays every now & then but just not consistent enough, too many times the ball will hit these guys in the hands & they drop it. Langham had a nice catch in the Endzone though, but had a bad drop as well.

OL was not good, they did enough & made some solid blocks to spring Cam/Homer for some good runs, but they were wildly inconsistent against Va Tech's beat up DLine. Donaldson still gets beat too much on the interior & our Tackle play has been below average all year. They still give up way too many sacks.

Defense:

- Trajan Bandy 5tcks 1TFL, 3PD's
- Sheldrick Redwine 5tcks 1sack, 1TFL
- Gerald Willis 5tcks
- Mike Smith 5tcks
- Romeo Finley 5tcks 1TFL, 1PD
- Jon Garvin 5tcks
- Jaquan Johnson 4tcks, 1PD
- Zach McCloud 4tcks, 0.5sacks, 0.5TFL's
- Michael Jackson 4tcks, 0.5sacks, 0.5TFL's, 1PD
- Joesph Jackson 3tcks 1.5sacks, 2.5TFL's
- Derrick Smith 3tcks
- Amari Carter 2PD's

We finally were able to get pressure, when we can bring pressure getting sacks & forcing turnovers this Defense plays that much better. JJack showed up & played well. Shaq had a great game, like what I saw from the rest of LB Corp as well. Mike Smith having himself a nice Senior year.

Secondary played great, Bandy is a thoroughbred Pitbull, that kid is pure beast! Redwine, Quan, Rome Finley & Mike Jack were all good in coverage as well making a bunch of plays. The Defense's weakest link is Jhavonte Dean (yes I know he had a late INT) but there were a bunch of plays he got beat during the game. Hopefully, one of the 3 youngins behind him will be developed & ready to play by next year. Other than that everybody else played very well.

S/O to Amari Carter, I keep tellin yall man that boy will be a playmaker for us next year as the full time starter taking over for Red, same way Quan had his best season as a Junior, expect the same with the Hitman AC5, just saying don't sleep.

Overall, glad we finally got a W. I'm not crowing'em because they beat a bad Va Tech team but anytime we win in Blacksburg is a great win. I predicted we finished the season 6-6, still standing by that, but at least we're bowl eligible & can get the young guys some extra practices.

Side note, does anybody know our record with Mark Jones calling the game? It seems like we always win when he's commentating lol

Pretty sure Mark Jones lives down here
Or he did at one point.

Trying to remember the last time we wasted a defense as good as this..this is a top 3 defense in the country and we won’t even be in a New Year’s Day bowl game. What a waste. Smh. I feel for them and hope they close it out these last 2 games. They deserved better
2003 is the answer to your question.

Hillery is basically the 3rd TE with Polendey injured, so he had to change his # to 33, he was in last week as well as a blocking TE.

Not a permanent change, just something that had to be done because we have zero depth at TE, especially even more so now with Brevin & Mallory getting hurt.

This is the downside to winning now (that's a crazy sentence). All in all great team victory. OL needs serious work as been stated since the spring. I'm just glad they got the win. I'll deal with my personal opinion of the staff changes or lack thereof after the season. I just want to see them go out and beat Pitt next week. The season is a failure but I'd like to see them closeout on a 3 game winning streak.

The main thing I took away was Perry's growing confidence. His throw to Cager(that he caught) on the 3rd and long was a great sign. He stood in, took a shot and threw a seed down the hashes. I think he won a lot of respect from his teammates with those runs to pick up first down. It was a step in the right direction, but that was a relatively very low hurdle to hop over. St. Louis makes me long for Robert Sampson and Gauthier should cut his hair, he's not good enough to pull that off...

Go Canes!

I remember that now. Thanks. I'm sure you heard the announcers say Jordan's x-rays were inconclusive. And they showed Mallory walking back to the locker room with a brace on his knee.

I salute you for saying we'd win when i didn't see it possible with this O.
