Great interview, can always appreciate younger players who actually try to know the history a little, That is dope. Definitely a business decision that worked out for all involved. Has had some real highlight moments this season. Awesome at what is asked of him in this scheme.

Late portal additions after Heatherman arrived:

Scott
Thomas
Toure

Feeling pretty good about the next portal wave on defense based on those results in a short period of time

I didn’t want to say it at the time because it would’ve come off as sour grapes, but Heatherman preferred Thomas over Haulcy during the process.

I’m still a bit stunned at what we did to NCST last week with Scott, OJ, and Blay being out/limited

Grew up watching the Pittsburgh (NFL) defenses where no matter who played the system still dominated

It’s tough in college of course but you see stuff like that and you can’t help but be optimistic

Yup! And Thomas was on fire against NCST. He has the right mentality. Knew guys were out and knew he needed to really step up and show out.

Heatherman is easily the best coach on this staff and I don't think it's particularly close. Dude can call a defense and has an eye for the talent for his defense.

I hate to crown heatherman early since we seem to do that a lot but **** he really is a legit DC. Thomas and Scott have looked like all Americans

Still crazy to think he was on that MTSU team that beat us badly three years ago. Wish we had him longer, but he is a true Cane regardless. Awesome portal pick up.
 
Scott was my favorite player to watch, but I also very much appreciate this dude. Especially in the run game. If he’s on last year’s team, some of those 50 yard absurdities would not have happened. Plus, he loves hitting and getting hit. Takes on OL. Fun.
