My Argument For Mario over Lane (Video)

Exactly fit matters
I’ve always agreed about the “win and they will come” argument as well

Kiffin has some good points for sure. We can win the Coastal with him consistently

But beyond that I’m just not sure. What Mario is going now at Oregon is more impressive to me and your Herbert example is a good one

I agree with the Mullen comparison and most of what you said.

Only thing I disagree with is that Lane always has had coaching staff that cares/focusing on recruiting. He also was the one that recruited Corral to Ole Miss when he got the job.

Ending of the video is pretty important, outside of a few players Manny is leaving the next head coach with a really unbalanced roster. Think you were spot on with the Kiffin Mullen comparison except I think Kiffin is a little bit better at recruiting than Mullen whether it be cause of $ or not.

That’s impressive considering Matt commited to ole miss in 2017 while Lane was still at FAU LOL.

Yea but Manny recruited kids that aren't wanted elsewhere. I don't want transfers I want blue chip guys. Corral had no where to go lol

If I'm not mistaken wasn't Corrals recruiting all over the place?

The conversation goes past Herbert imo. Jevon Holland and Penei Sewell are looking like studs right now in the nfl. Plus the offensive lines Oregon has had and built are elite units
They have to get Mario based on that alone.....that's how u build an elite team

I would LOVE to have Lane... but only if we can't have Mario. Lane is risky no matter how much I want to like him.

My issue with Lane is that he's gonna bounce. Like its 100, he leaves no doubt he's going to leave before any of his recruits even graduate. I posted the other day how he's left after 1-3 years from every job he's been at. They've been promotions. So I won't/can't and shouldn't knock him for that. BUT I really don't wanna have to worry about him leaving after year one, year two, year three, etc because a better job than UM is available. And I really don't wanna have to worry about our next HC after he bolts in 3 years.
And this is before we even get into what @Brooklyndee thinks about inevitable sanctions if we get Lane.

Mario is my guy. If he comes home its to stay. We aren't worrying about him leaving every time a job opens up. We aren't worried about his recruiting. We aren't getting mad about his treatment of former players. We aren't worried about mentally weak ****.

This is home for him. With the rest of his resume, how could anyone turn down that level of commitment?

Bring him home whatever the price tag....fuq Oregon and fuq Nike and fuq adidas

You've come around D Wins. I thought you weren't a Mario fan? ... I'm in agreement with you. And I really think these two are head and shoulders above the rest.

Mario > Kiffin >>>>> ......... everyone else when it comes to fit between Miami and the coach, and probability of winning NCs again.

I could've sworn that's how he ended up at Ole Miss but i could be wrong. He kept getting passed over by other school and when Lane got hired he took him. If not whatever I'll take the L on not knowing an Ole Miss kid.

The golden rule for taking kids out of state is you don't take them if any of the flagship schools have offered. aka the Corey Flagg rule

I'll take the L on that. I remember he decommited from 2 or 3 other schools before Ole Miss and couldn't sworn Lane was the reason why he came. Oh well

Both Mario and Lane seem to have learned a lot since working for Saban. I think both would be good hires, but Mario has a better reputation behind the scenes. I won’t complain about either one, and hiring a Power 5 coach would be a nice change for Miami.

I think Lane would be our best coach in 20 years but I just don't see how he can build something here and be trustworthy to keep it rolling. his USCw experience doesn't bother me too much because it was early in his career and he's spent years with Saban after that.

Mario is connected to the community, understands our tradition, and has shown an elite ability to recruit which would help long term success.

I think kids and families in this community would trust Mario way more with their sons and the future of the program
