My Argument For Mario over Lane (Video)

Not once in the video is there any talk of S&C. We got passed by the LSU's and Bama's of the world in the mid 2000's and the S&C for the last 15 years has been so far behind that's it's impossible to win without wholesale changes.

We know Lane brings Alabama's top assistant S&C coach, Wilson Love. Saban tried to hire him away from Lane to be head S&C coach in 2020. For Mario there's a big question mark. Sure, his S&C coach has experience at Georgia. But Lane is winning in the SEC while Mario is doing it in a bad conference.

I get people being skeptical of Lane, heck I have even said it, it could, could end up a disaster. Having said that, that could happen with anybody we bring in, including Mario.

Fixing the offensive line/push in the run game would be one reason I’d be for Mario. We can’t get a push ever. Short yardage situations are a nightmare. Elite teams impose their will in short yardage. We get stuffed

Some people want to be what UF was for these past few years, and look they about to fire Mullen after next season
Lane is a better recruiter than mullen and he puts recruiters on his staff. On his staff at ole miss he took Chris partridge from Michigan and he was there top recruiter and is one of the best in cfb. In his time at usc his classes was 3rd, 8th, 13th.

U need more than one guy and I prefer we have a recruiter at HC and elite recruiter. We havent had an elite guy at the top since Butch. Golden nope Randy nope MR nope and Diaz nope. But obviously Lane is an upgrade over all those names I believe.

It isn’t a question mark, dude is a beast. They dominated Ohio State in the trenches without their two best defensive players. I think both would bring in grade A S&C coaches

Mario has to get new coordinators or it’s a hard no from me. Moorehead is trash and their defense may have decent numbers, but the P12 is filled with a bunch of anemic offenses.
Moorehead is a solid oc. He changed that Penn st. Offense around. Oregon qbs the last 2 years have been cheeks

I could've sworn that's how he ended up at Ole Miss but i could be wrong. He kept getting passed over by other school and when Lane got hired he took him. If not whatever I'll take the L on not knowing an Ole Miss kid.

The golden rule for taking kids out of state is you don't take them if any of the flagship schools have offered. aka the Corey Flagg rule
My remembrance of Corral's recruitment was he was all USC, then he showed up to campus hammered a couple times and the rumors of his drinking and drug use started and he fell off a lot of teams boards.

Depends on who he brings in as OC.
See that's the thing though--I'm not really sure if that matters. Moorhead was a very good OC with PSU and Miss St, yet Oregon's offense looks a lot like what it did under Arroyo. I think Mario has a pretty specific idea of the offense that he wants to run, which is a somewhat basic, run heavy offense built around a stout OL. That's not necessarily a problem in a vacuum, but I worry that it's a bad fit for our recruiting base. We haven't had a truly great OL since the early 2000's. I think we need to lean more on the side of air raid, especially when we have a real QB like TVD and potentially Garcia.

Yup...if not Kiffin or Ole Miss period wouldn't have gotten him

No disagreement here, I’d almost prefer to keep Lashlee if Mario can fix the OL and defense.
