Mullen v. Golden

bbcane has a point.

Mullen is in his SIXTH year, Golden is in his 4th.

Mullen was 7-6 last year including the bowl.

Im not saying UM and MSU are comparable, but Mullen has finally got it going in year SIX.

Mullen also coached offense directly under *** at Utah and UF. Golden's pedigree is Al Groh.

His 4th yr he was 8-4.

In 2012 his losses were to

#1 Bama
#16 A&M
#9 LSU
#25 Ole Miss

His 5th yr. he was 6-6

In 2013 his losses were to

#13 Okie State
unranked at the time but played in title game Auburn
#10 LSU
#14 S. Carolina
#11 A&M
#1 Bama

A fair point, but come on bruh.

That game can be played every which way.

In 2014 Golden's losses were to a

unranked UL but on the road with a True Frosh getting his first start.
Ranked Nebraska
Ranked GT
#2 Ranked FSU

And what are the great OOC games that SEC teams play? 4 of MSU's wins were against Troy, Middle Tenn, South Alabama, and Jackson State.

They didn't beat ANYONE of note in 2012. Auburn was 3-9 that year they lost to MSU.

My point is, the Golden believers can use all this same argument to advance their idea that he just needs one more year, just as much as you can use this stuff to suggest he's failed and Dan Mullen is a much better HC.

Fair enough, but again, his wins last year?? Alcorn State, Troy, Bowling Green, a 3-9 Arkansas, Kentucky, Rice, and an OT win against Ole Miss.

That's hardly an impressive roster of victories.

And Golden's 4 year recruiting class average was better than every team on his schedule except FSU.

Not the case for Mullen. Comparison invalid.

The SEC is soooo incredibly down this year. Are people really trying to talk about Mississippi State as an elite school? Do y'all even watch football?

Miss St is the beneficiary of the ESPN / SEC contract. They suck, plain and simple.

Not sure how you compare a guy is his sixth year to a guy in his fourth, but then I remember what the point of these threads are.
I would have loved to see the reaction on here during Mullens 6-6 season.

No arguing that. Other than I believe sec is overrated and doesn't get penalized for in conference losses. When duke, fsu, Clemson, gtech,va tech, louiville, miami would all compete in that conference.

Hahaha. Arkansas would win the coastal this year, they are 1-5 in the SEC right now.

LULZ at the dopey clowns trying to equate the Miss State program to the UM program. Miss State was a perennial doormat Kentucky/Vandy level program in the SEC. In fact, Kentucky enjoyed quite a bit more football success over the past 20 years than Miss State.

Exactly. Arkansas would run roughshod through the Coastal this year.

Wow so Dan mullen is a better coach. Thanks would've never known that without you telling us lol.

Now can we afford Dan answer is no because if he even hinted he was interested in coming to this school other schools would out bid us. Then we're left with another no name coach who may not even have AL'S work ethic to mask his inexperience game coaching.

Here's where you realized how fcking pathetic our athletic department is: we interviewed Dan Mullen in 2010. A few BOT members said he was too ****y so they passed.
I totally believe that but we can't afford Mullin now. And honestly he's hot he can go back to Florida now which is what he's gonna do more than likely.

No one but you has suggested trying to HIRE Mullin.

This was for comparison purposes.

****.

Dak prescott???... Case closed next....

So to correctly do this we would do this starting next year because mullens is 2 years ahead so come talk to me after the 2015 2016 season and we will compare .... K

Lol. These guys just act dumb. Golden's recruiting advantage is superior to miss st and the garbage Mullen had to deal with when he walked in supersedes the exaggerated bs golden dealt with.

Golden is just a garbage coach.

Arkansas is a bad football team, they probably wouldn't win the mountain west. The SEC is so over hyped, it's amazing how so many of you fall for the SEC pole pumping. LSU and Auburn are great teams too right? They would win any conference.

This is starting to scare me. The creeps and weirdos of this fanbase are trying to turn this into a cult like Penn State. They want Al Golden to die on the sidelines in 40 years. GET. THE. ****. OUT. comparing him to Mullen.

Dan Mullen that took over a program that:

- Averaged 3.5 wins a season since 2001
- Averaged the 50th ranked recruiting class the 5 years before he arrived
- Was an annual basement-dweller in the conference
- Played inside the toughest conference in the country
- Were an impressive 5-35 in conference the 5 years before he was hired

We made a mistake hiring a coach who's defensive philosophy did not fit Miami DNA. Mullen has the same flaw on the other side. He is running QB offense -- Tebow is his god. That is not Miami DNA. Kaaya is a Miami QB, pure pro style. Neither of these guys were good for us.
