He didn’t need a bag he had a good contract at UF. He clearly did it for the HC title. Guess he wasn’t getting the traction he wanted and figured this would springboard him faster
 
He's a smart guy and a good coach. If UNLV is serious about their NIL, he's going to do well there.

apparently they committed heavily to NIL.
 
I think coaches are seeing that there's a lot of money and desire many places. The new landscape may bring big wins to little teams.

He's been an $EC HC and may not want a OC job, especially if his ego tells him he's a better HC than his boss, right to wrong. He isn't desperate for money. UNLV seems like a good spot to rejuvenate his career.

I might be wrong about this but doesn’t the Vegas area have some similar youth prep type programs maybe in the mold of IMG? Not that specifically but I know they’ve been doing that with baseball for a long time

Figure if they turn that into a sports destination for prep it could trickle down to the football programs

If you’re not earning, you’re getting poorer. He’s getting much, much more a year than he was in the booth. Of course he needs the money.

Why in the world would they admit this publicly?

Mullen is a much better OC than a HC, but I’m not sure his ego will allow him to accept that at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he uses this to get another, “better,” HC job in 2026.
