Pocket-passers are the most proven way to win in football. The best football player in the world today runs a 5.4. He wins with accurate pocket passing.

I'm not against mobile quarterbacks, but since this is Miami, I'm most concerned with getting the ball to my talented receivers. Mullen's system is overly dependent on power runs from the QB position. It is rare to find players who can run like a fullback and throw the ball accurately. We don't have anyone like that on the roster, and it will probably be a few years before we have a player like that starting at QB.

Chris Leak got a lot worse going from Fedora to Mullen. He improved as a senior, but he still wasn't great and Tebow was a major part of the game-plan.

Prescott is a Mullen-type QB but it took five years to find him. And they still aren't a great team.

He's in Starksville, MS and in the SEC West. They are 7th or 7 in recruiting grounds in the conference.

He has a .596 winning percentage, no HC at MSU has had a winning percentage over .500 since the 1950s. His predecessor Croom had a .356 winning percentage. He is doing a ridiculously good job there.

And that just isn't true either, basically the same QB under both coaches.

45 TDs, 23 INTs under Fedora,
43 TDs, 19 INTs under Mullen,

Better competition percentage under Mullen.

Great offensive coaches don't force their system on parts that don't fit. He would have Miami's offense humming with Kaaya.

Where would Miami have been under Golden or Shannon in the same division? Its easy to say he hasn't done anything, but the division he coaches in has won or played in 5 of last 6 title games. And two teams made the title game in 2012 from their division. Compared to Miami's schedule? I mean our toughest streches are against FSU, Va Tech and possibly GA Tech. I think he'd be a great hire. The defense and the staff could be good. His defenses have never been dominant, but he hasn't the athletes Miami has down here. It's hard to argue how an offensive coach would fix a defense, as long as he hires a competent DC, it'll work out. Look at UNC. I just think saying his best year came in down year for the division in college football holds no merit.

Yeah I think MSU's defenses have been decent all things considered. Diaz (if that's the guy) was accomplished enough to get the Texas job. It didn't work, but I don't think he's a dummy.

Strong's Texas defenses are horrible, but I wouldn't say he's a bad defensive coach.

DMoney, go back and look at those stats. All his guys had great passing numbers. Great TD to Int and about 65% comp rate. Even Tebow, who was an awful passer, had huge numbers throwing the ball. The scheme gets WRs open. When you watch those old Utah, Florida and even MSU games, the throwing windows are quite large. The run games puts huge pressure on the D secondary.

Also, Chris Leak, Alex Smith and Brian Johnson (whose his qb coach now at MSU) weren't huge dudes like Tebow or Prescott or Cam or Josh Harris. I think that's his prototype, but he's shown to be able to adjust to other types until he gets his guy. The power runners are rare, but he's found them pretty much everywhere.
