Moten

Gerald Willis had an All-American type of season. He single handily took over the LSU game. His attitude and troubled past held him back.
Agreed but he was more of a product of Manny's system.
Moten is making NFL plays, not just shooting gaps. And he did it on one ankle on the biggest stage.

Mesidor? He didn't exactly have the 2024 season that Moten had in 2025 when they were thinking about the draft but that was a big one with how it played out.

Thinking about this made me realize how few players have ever skipped the draft to come back for us lmao
I think back in the day, Miami's best knew there were cats ready, willing and able to step up and fill their shoes. They didn't feel like they were abandoning ship because the shelves were stocked and it was completely accepted that once you had reached that level, it was basically expected that you would declare and move on. It' s when you have guys that are approaching that level, but haven't reached it yet - when those guys that haven't quite finished writing their Miami stories opt out, then you definitely have a problem.

99 was on some **** this year…can’t wait to see him after another year of development.

What a massive pull by Mario when he was going to OU initially. I was so worried about DT and I kept watching Scott until I just couldn't ignore that Moten turned into the best DT in ages here. He made it easy for Bain and Mezzi, the QB could not step up he had to step back right into Bain and Mezzi. This dude is crazy good what an eval by the staff, almost unbelievable to find this guy when there are so many busts at DT yearly. Pause

Saban is in love with this dude, he mentioned him anytime he could when talking about our defense.

I hate to throw around hyperbole (outside of bench press threads) but I’ll go ahead and put Scott/Moten up against anyone in the country given Scott’s trajectory. He flashed some elite potential this year and Moten is just a monster

poster child for why sticking around, and continuing to grind and press on ..... (instead of bailing for greener grass when things get a bit challenging) ..... has a funny way of working out for the best.

Hey, you guys remember when all the CIS expert talent scouts said Moten was a jag out of high school and his first couple years or so? I do lmao.

Perfect example as to why you give DTs time to develop.

Very few posters on here were high on Moten. Yet every single year he has gotten better. Even headed into this year, most put him behind Blay and Scott as a second-teamer. I was like, show me the tape where Scott is better than Moten?

Mark my words, Moten is going to be even better next season. He's going to take a Mesidor level step.

I thought he was a solid P4 2 deep DT but nothing more. He showed out this year.

I'm still not there with Scott. I need to see more. But you're meta-point is still 100% valid. Moten is going to be a 1st-Team All-ACC type DT next year, IMO. Then you have Scott, Blount, Keona Davis and Stancil.

I'm soooooo happy we nabbed Davis. Not only is he quality. Equally importantly, he increases the competition for snaps, which I believe will be the single most important "development" factor for Scott. D Lew will only play dogs.
