2004 was the start of the slide IMO, that was th country club class. The kds that thought by putting on the U jersey you were going in the 1st round and would be millionaires after ther Junior year, so I give them that distinction.

The 08 kids were weak minded and couldn't handle adversity.

That's what I was thinking. It's amazing how bad that class was, especially considering what it's ranking was. And forget impact players, there are barely any on that list that even played meaningful minutes.

The 2004 class stands alone. That class was recruited after we had previously gone something like 4 losses in 4 years. TOTAL.

Do you think it was more players just not that good, or just really poor development. I cant beleive that all those players were just bad. I really feel that over the last decade the program has just been being baby sat.

Ragen,

I believe that was a poorly recruited class. We recruited for a paper team, not a football team. Add in the environment and general incompetence, and you see that kind of result.

Holy **** at the 2004 class. They were awful. LOL awful.

2008 is doing their best to suck just as bad.

Yeah LuCane your prob. right, About 10 years ago i worked with a guy named Danny Brown, He was on the 83 National Title team. The stories he would tell me about practice and how the players felt about each other were crazy. These guy loved each other they still talk on a regular basis now, He said that Snelly was the meanest man he ever met on the football field. Be glad to see these kids getting after it again. Golden will make them earn it and we havent seen that in a long time

After 2004, everything really started to compound on itself...class after class of players with unfulfilled promise.

These classes are the definition of why those star rankings and class rankings mean nothing.

The class that started the spiral was this one, also ranked #4:

Agree with the post above. That class started the downward spiral. Was that Larry's first full class as head coach?
