More potential Chad or Matthew Thomas?

MT reminds me of a shorter Dion Jordan, while Chad Thomas reminds me of Justin Tuck.

Gun to my head and all bias aside, Matthew Thomas is the more unique talent IMO.

Better question is between Matt and Demetrius.

They similiar positions.

Jackson could end up a 6'5 255 OLB/rush end

Whereas Chad could be more of a 275 pound DL.

Gotta say MT6 because he is so versatile. Can play any LB position that is asked of him. He is the type of defensive player that is really a toy for any d-coordinator. But Cthomas is no slouch. He has a big ceiling and I have high hopes for him. But I do that the DJackson has more potential then both of them. Alot of things that some D-ends have to work or be coached at tirelessly come natural to him. (batting down balls, chasing down ball carriers from the backside, etc) That is scary.

Chad Thomas has freakish strength for someone w/ a wiry frame to the point he can play DT in some instances..... he is a DE that is a jack of all trades but whats special about him imo is he can be a master of those trades as well. He has the tools and natural ability to be an elite pass rushing threat and an elite run stopper at the same time.

unlike maybe an Anthony Chickillo as a comparison who is a solid pass rusher and run stopper but isnt necessarily "Elite" at either.

Matthew Thomas is an elite talent as well, great instincts and is a solid tackler that's good in coverage as well..... he could've been an elite SLB on top of being an elite pass rushing threat like Tyriq McCord if he was at UM.

When I think about the topic of who has the most "potential" i have to take in account what system are they going into and what responsibilities are they being assigned with.... Matthew Thomas, as of right now, is playing "WLB" at FSU which is technically the 2nd MLB position in Pruitts 3-4 defense. Of course he is talented enough to play that position and become an impact player but imo the MLB position isnt maximizing his potential.

Chad Thomas can come into Miami and develop into being able to play a multitude of different positions along the D-line.... Whether it's 3-4 DE/4-3 DE, 3rd down pass rushing specialist like AQM and McCord and also play the 3-4 OLB/DE spot that Shayon Green drops back into at times. With that said i have to say that Chad Thomas has more potential then Matthew Thomas..... but talent wise they both are just as equally elite imo.

Too close to call. I think Mathew is the superior Natural athlete but Chad can hold more weight. Do you take size or speed?

I think you always go with the lineman because they are closer to the ball. Dominate on the LOS and you win.

Might be a homer here but oh well. MT6 is a freak and a tough loss, but apparently we weren't even second or third so I've gotten over it. Its not like Fsu just edged us out, that kid was gone. Makes me laugh at Bakas who doesn't know **** and spent a whole year saying FSU isn't in it, we lead, and Bama is the real threat.

Chad Thomas because he is just scratching the surface of his physical potential as a down lineman. With that said this is irrelevant to what is better for Miami or FSU. This season has put a serious comfort in my feelings towards the coaches ability to evaluate the LB position. When guys like Armbrister and Cornelius are making plays and you see guys like Owens and Young coming in with guys like Figs immediately making plays, it makes me completely forget about Matthew Thomas.

Is Matthew Thomas still 3rd string?

I still remember some posters comparing Figatron and Thomas basically saying FSU was so much better than us because a guy like Thomas is down the depth chart. Ignoring the fact that Figs is a bust-*** EE and Thomas spent the entire offseason basically trashing the school he committed to.

Not sure how much is talent related but I'm curious as to how Golden would have handled a player acting like such a tool.

It just goes to show that no matter how athletic you are you got to have the strength to play at the college level. Those moves Thomas had in high school won't work in college. Alex Figueroa is better than Matthew Thomas because he is a more complete player.

Chad and its not close.

Chad will put on 30 or more pounds in college. With his motor he could be unstoppable

u are a super homer and it's actually sad

Would agree with those who say Matt is the more unique physical talent, there are fewer kids who have his skillset.

But, not by much, and I think Chad's a safer bet to hit his ceiling (no sour grapes, either). Lu has been hammering home that he's being groomed perfectly to be a ++ Chickillo here, and he's gonna be a monster for us there.

It's close. Premium is placed on pass rushers especially with the way offenses are shifting now, but like everyone has said, Matthew "Da Seamen Receptacle" Thomas offers you a very versatile chess piece as a coordinator.

That said, give me Chad Thomas because he wasn't *** enough to spurn his hometown and dress up like an indian for four years.

Is Matthew Thomas still 3rd string?

yeah he's 3rd string behind Telvin Smith and overrated Reggie Northrup.

Alex Figueroa wouldve been on the 2 deep at FSU by now imo

I don't understand this a top 10 national recruit and you haven't cracked the 2 deep by midseason? Either FSU's defense is crazy good or the young man is under achieving.

He's just not physical ready to play in a 3-4 scheme, simple as that. Telvin Smith, cant even get off blocks to make plays consistenly b/c he is too undersized for that type of 3-4 defense, but he is the best LB on the team thats why he starts.

Matthew Thomas will have to get up to 240lbs to be able to play the 3-4 effectively, especially at MLB in that rigid system they play in...... if he was at Miami, the coaches couldve schemed around his natural talent and put him in positions to succeed on the field even though he's undersized..... and also since our 3-4 also is a 4-3 hybrid he would've been able to still play in it effectively.

I wonder if Matt Thomas being 3rd string has anything to do with him not wanting to be at FSU. When your heart isn't in something, it's tough to reach the heights that you are capable of reaching.
