More on Ole Miss coaching situation

I just registered on this site to add some context to what is happening with Charlie Weis. I didn't come here to bash and I promise I will leave after this game. I always like to look at opposing team message boards but have never registered until now. I will say that this board seems to be way more mature and intelligent than any I've visited. Congratulations on that.

I live about 20 miles from the Oxford campus and have two friends that work in the athletic department so I'm 99% sure of what I'm about to write. When Lane Kiffin first approached Charlie Weis about going with him to LSU, Charlie told him he would go but only under the condition that he could finish the season with Ole Miss. Otherwise, he would not take the job and stay at Ole Miss. Honorable if you ask me. Evidently Kiffin agreed and here we are. The classy road here was taken by Weis and this is not some generous gesture by Kiffin or LSU. They had no choice if the wanted Weis.

Another couple of things and I'll quit. The players had become irritated at Kiffin for playing this situation out in the media while they were finishing their regular season so Kiffin's statement about the players wanting him to coach in the CFP is not true. Also, I'm told that the Sunday morning where Kiffin flew out that afternoon, the player committee (of 12) wanted to meet with Kiffin and he wouldn't meet with them and that Pete Golding called Kiffin and told him he was acting like a 3-year old kid.

I hope Miami gets through this game healthy but of course I hope Ole Miss wins. I know it's an extreme uphill climb as I have no doubt the Hurricanes are by far the best team that Ole Miss has played all year. If we don't get through this one, I will be a Hurricane fan for the final.

Thanks for the insight and visiting the board. Good luck to your team tomorrow night. No matter the outcome kudos to your team rallying while all this outside crap is going on

Thanks for the intel. Gotta admire your players for sticking together through a nasty situation they had nothing to do with. There were some Canes fans that wanted Kiffen over Mario. We’d be in the same boat ya’ll are in if that would’ve happened.

Obviously, we wanna win but I’ll still have respect for your players for sticking together and overcoming the Kiffen circus

I think it’s clear that the players were over Kiffin and are actually playing better without him.

Normally I'd be rooting for Ole Miss as Lane screwed those players. I wanna beat your ***, but if we lose even as a SEC hata I hope you take it home.

There is as much maturity and intelligence here as there is in a Kindergarten class, give it til the end of the day, you'll see

Welcome and thank you for the insight. Its all what i expected did happen. Kiffin only cares about himself

Ahman Richards mentioned something on @DMoney and @Peter Ariz show today. Both of their playoff games were rematches. This is the first time in a good while they are facing a new defense and a defense with a better DL they played all year. It never crossed my mind until he said it. Rematches usually favors the losing team. How do they gameplan for us. I think we have shocked the teams we played with our physicality. So not having extra time with the coaches maybe a factor, in fact.
It seems all this assumes there are no coaches in the room. They have coaches there, old and new, working full time on game plans, just not Weis.

As I said, it may not be ideal, but coaches are there preparing the team and a gameplan.

I like Lane. This isn't amateur hour anymore. This is pro football. When those jobs opened up his agent got the information for his client. Lane never went out in public saying anything other than he wanted to finish the season. Ole miss should of let him finish the season. They talking about poaching players they openly admitted they tried to poach his coaches. So its fair game. Lane and his staff evaluated every player on that staff. Their team is an offensive led team that he built. Who cares if he is a jerk or whatever. Only person it hurt was him and he seems to be ok with his choice so why all the feelings still. Ole miss still has Lane's OC. They went and hired another Lane disciple to run the game next year. They using a Lane special at QB. A portal RB that Lane and Kevin Smith evaluated. Enjoy the success that Lane and his offensive staff built for this game. Because next year and moving forward its on Pete Golding. The players didnt have any loyalty to Lane who took a chance on them and put them in a position to win. The NCAA is the bad guy in the situation because its their calendar. Penn state coach just took 19 players from Iowa State and nobody is up in arms of how he raided a whole team. Oklahoma state took all the best players from North Texas. This is football now so Ole Miss stop crying and lace ya boots. GABOS. Lane still the coach. Its his offensive mind and staff. They running his gameplay. Pete Golding defense is *** and they lean on Kiffin's offense. Tired of Ole Miss already. Media wants a Cinderella story who cares. We after number 6. But I will tune into that LSU-Ole Miss game next year. Should be a good one.

I hate this I want to smash them at their best.

I have no doubt, they are going to be at their best.

This is a play-in game for the national championship

Two position coaches not being there is going to make zero difference for them. Don’t expect this to have any kind of impact at all, it’s delusional to think otherwise

Go read the transfer portal board or any game day thread. As a matter of fact, read any thread besides this one and your opinion will likely change.

Joking, kinda. Our immaturity and behavior makes us what we are, a bunch of savages, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

This sounds extremely accurate, I knew a few dozen players from Kiffin’s time at FAU and they all described him as a very odd person.

They said he acted nothing in person like he acted on social media. He wouldn’t confront players or deal with any sort of negative confrontation whatsoever.

The fact of the matter is most of us that did not want him here as head coach, was because we knew he would do what he just did to you guys.

In my opinion, taking the LSU job was the dumbest thing he could’ve done, the expectations and goals that Ole Miss would have for him are far different than what LSU’s expectations are.

He could’ve been king in Ole Miss for the rest of his life, and gotten pay raises pretty much yearly.

Lets see what happens

I hear you I just want no excuses from anyone we are the best team in the country.

When Miami hired Mario, I was a vocal critic because I wanted Lane. But, seeing how he treated Ole M, I realized that he is just a talented self-promoter. I was wrong. But, I appreciate your information to confirm that he ran away like a brat. I look forward to Thursday's game.
