The big spenders like Texas and Florida generally go first in the hiring process. The better candidates are looking for better $. So for a school like Miami, often it's necessary to wait as higher profile openings are filled. Those guys will be looking to fill out their staffs. There very well could be coaches that have been contacted, even interviewed that are working through this process.

If you're contacting and interviewing coaches, why are Baker et al still here?

Either there's an opening at DC etc or there isn't.

Its been said a dozen times, Baker is personal friends with Manny (his "boy"). I'm sure Manny would much prefer to help Baker out and get him another DC job elsewhere instead of just firing his *** and Baker ends up at the YMCA with D'No. Do I like it? No of course not, but thats how the game goes. It is what it is

Also possible Manny is weighing his options. If he lands the DC (or Co-DC BS) he wants, Baker is out or demoted. If he doesn't, Baker stays. He doesnt need to rush to fire him. Manny has all the leverage here, Baker has none

I am confused. Are you suggesting that $$$ is the real reason we perform the way we perform?

Board is quiet. Manny is going to go down like Golden next year. Too big an ego and no one will with a reputation will come here and run his defense. It’s Swiss cheese and any team with a pulse puts up big points on us. He put together a good class this year for our next head coach. That’s the only positive.

What board???
Marcus Lemonade and "E not W" types?
Ha ha!

Patke sucks. Special teams ain’t making any game changing plays. No punt/kick returns. Our LB core hasn’t gotten any better and he can’t recruit. To many Ls to have a job.

don’t talk about JB he was a beast before he got here it’s why we lost to FIU and why we chased him in the portal.

You got to trust CMD. He knows what he is doing.

Compare our blocking on special teams to others. Our returners Are almost always immediately tackled and/or swarmed.
Complaints about punt returns, except for legitimate concerns about catching the ball, are generally fake news. A close review of national statistics, especially with the wider influx of the flukey but effective Australian punters will show that punt returns are largely a thing of the past. Even when Miami led the ACC in punt returns, the fans were unsatisfied. Only 30 schools had average returns of 10 yards or more. Most fair catch between 50% and 75 % of punts. 34 punts were returned for touchdowns. One person had 3, two had 2, the rest were single touchdowns. Miami returned 15 out of 35 for an average of 3.47 yards.

Zero hyperbole. This is the best we will ever be or look under him (both record and performance), and it is all because of king. We will get smoked by bama next year and might lose to MSU. Next year is another 7 ish win year. we now all know that mack is Diaz’s daddy, i guess Brown is Cuban. we aren’t even going to win the coastal with Diaz now that Mack is building a good program at unc.

then in 2022 we play both Clemson and TaMu
our schedule by itself says we seriously need to be figuring out who our next coach is going to be, because Diaz will not last here unless 7-8 wins a year is ok. We have already climaxed but it sure doesn’t feel that great...

Manny would need to do a full 180º and there's no reason to believe he can get it done.

I've said it since last year, this is a guy who wants to be liked / accepted instead of feared / respected and that is a disastrous recipe for today's current athlete.

When the going is good, he gets too overhyped and is in the mix celebrating with players—leading to overconfidence, which has them getting smacked in the mouth by a future, physical opponent. When the going gets tough, it's excuse city from Manny and his players—the wheels falling off and the team with no ability to pick themselves up to fight back; instead the mistakes multiple, the late hits and penalties mount up and it's disaster-mode.

Dude isn't going anywhere this off-season, so all we can hope for is him making defensive upgrades like he did with the offense months back—bringing in Lashlee and the season savior, D'Eriq King.

Anything less and he is looking at 8-4 next year, at best—with no Coastal title another second-tier bowl game.

This. He talks a good game, perhaps for PR reasons, but there’s absolutely no substance behind all that. Seen that repeatedly in his HC stint so far. I think he walks on an ever-moving gravel ground. Seen enough. If the powers that be don’t see this, I don’t know what it’ll take. Hope and pray for a miracle, some way, somehow.

Like going from 6-7 to 8-2 in a year? Mack Brown got uber lucky hitting on Sam Howell, thats it. Just look at his UT years same ****, he hit on Vince Young. Manny isnt Saban but he also isnt Muschamp. Let the man work, he has brought in 2 monster classes.
You have to realize one thing... We won a few extra games this year because WE HAVE A KICKER. That is seriously the only difference. You put Jose on the 2019 team and we win 8 games, easy. We also probably lose a game or two this year without him. So, where is the real improvement?

The 2020 class is a great foundation. Off season Diaz was incredible last year... lets see if he has it in him to make more hard decisions. Miami needs to open the bags a bit because if he can solve the D like he did the O and hold onto the 2020 class things could get good. A couple good years in a row and you might hold off the Bamas and OSUs for the difference makes they hand pick in FL

I’m all with you. But this is the theme last 20 years. Players on this team weren’t born or were being phocked into creation then.

We’ll never be any better with this AD and BOT. We need a real university President who is dedicated to improving the school in EVERY aspect, not just fiddling around with the med school mess all the time. A real President would assign someone to work with med school separately from the rest of the university. We will never be Johns Hopkins.

Nor the Bamas.
