The Canes just had another big recruiting weekend in terms of official visits, hosting targets such as RB Mark-Antony Richards, WR George Pickens, DT Jared Harrison-Hunte, S Martin Emerson, and QB Peyton Matocha. Here’s what I was hearing coming out of the weekend.

**On Matocha: the Canes got a commitment from the Texas QB in a move that was certainly expected.

**I didn’t hear anything overly positive coming out of the weekend on either Richards or Pickens and I believe it’s status quo with the pair. While I’m told both enjoyed their visit, sources say that Miami is still trailing for both prospects. I see them both as longshots to end up at UM.

**Nothing really new, but I’ve been hearing more positive news on guys like Harrison-Hunte and Emerson coming out of the weekend. UM feels strongly that they will both be Hurricanes; I put a pick in for Emerson on Friday afternoon after hearing some good news on him from a source and I feel even better about it now. As for Harrison-Hunte, Matthew has a pretty good source close to the recruitment there, and the source feels UM locked up Harrison-Hunte this weekend. Matt and I both put in UM picks for him on Sunday.

**In a week and half, the 2019 class will be signed, sealed, and delivered, and it will officially be time to shift the focus to the rising seniors of 2020. The UM staff has gotten a head start in evaluating players for the 2020 class the past few weeks and have really been combing through a host of prospects lately to see who is worthy of offers. One name to keep an eye on that UM is evaluating is Grayson (GA) DE Jadyn Bost. The 6’3”, 250 pounder already has P5 offers from Boston College, Indiana, Ole Miss, and Rutgers. Bost also has a connection to UM, as the teammate of UM offensive lineman signee Jakai Clark at Grayson.

I was hoping the new staff and new offense would be appealing to MAR but I guess not. Just hope he doesn't end up at UF... Anyway, Manny has absolutely salvaged this class and our roster. If we land Emerson, Harrison-Hunte, and maybe one more surprise that would be great considering what situation we were in a month ago.

Not getting Richards is a pretty big fail, no matter how you slice it. Sure, you can't force kids to go somewhere. Of course. But to have Ahmmon here and to let this kid get away, it speaks a lot to how much of a failure the previous regime was both on the field in the last 16 games and on the trail for the majority of his recruitment. The kid is just a good football player, period. He has to be here. He will excel at Auburn or, please god no, UF.

Wants to make his own name and play rb. Hed be 4th on the depth chart maybe if he came. Cant really fault the new staff

The whole MAR situation seems so odd to me. His brother is our biggest advocate but MAR doesn’t even seem remotely interested. Just odd. I would love for him to come here and ball in honor of his brother

Don’t see him coming here unless he had a change of heart and played DB. Our RB room is stacked...he’d have to wait until his SR year to be the feature back, no amount of family bias can replace what’s ultimately best for the player.

Completely agree. AR lost his career and he seems so positive. We seem to really be looking after him
