He's also in the sec and he's coach at miss st not Ole miss. That's like comparing coaching wake forest to unc.
It's most likely going to be richt and I have yet to read any article that mullen is at the top of our wish list.
We did offer him 5 years ago but offered him much less then he was making at the time.
People really under estimating how hard it is to recruit in that division.
guy has a win percentage of 15 against ranked teams!
say all you want about him being undermathched but the sec has been down the last few years and he still has managed to lose to all the respectable teams and beat only the garbage ones
he will not outcoach anyone. Anyone who thinks this guy is better than Richt is smokin' some good stuff

Mississippi State hasn't had a coach with an over .500 winning percentage since the 1950s. Mullen is at .597.
MSU is 7th of 7 teams in the SEC West in recruiting grounds and he has them competing in that league.
This is why you can't look strictly look at records.

Didn't mean to upvote this. Mullen is average as ****. To all of those that are trying to explain away his record, please explain then what you all are seeing to indicate that he is indeed a good/great coach.

Nick Saban had a 58% winning percentage at Michigan State. Mullen has a 61% winning percentage at Mississippi State. If it was up to you stupid *** fans LSU would've never hired Saban. You need a little bit of vision to find the next big thing at coaching. Somebody needs to save this stupid *** fanbase that's stuck in 1999 from themselves.

competing they finish 5th every year
never beat 1 good team
that sums up average
if he didn't coach under Urban no one would want this guy

Agreed. However, besides looking at the hand he was dealt, do you honestly feel that he has shown enough for you to feel comfortable with us turning the program over to him at such a critical juncture? If we shouldn't look too hard at his record what qualities do you feel Mullen possesses that makes his unimpressive record so far at MissSt more palatable? Is it his gameday coaching/playcalling? The way he recruits relative to circumstances? The way he developes, motivates and/or relates to his players? I
I would honestly like those that are pro-Mullen to provide some reasons as to why this guy should be at the top of our list.

You mean like the same vision that got Al Golden the gig here after turning Temple around you clown?
Hey, Kiffen hasn't shown squat as a head coach but maybe we should show some vision and hire him anyway so hopefully he can get it together like Saban while he's here. Hey, who needs evidence right? We've got VISION baby!
Give me a break. Vision. Pfft. Like YOU know what the **** you're looking at.

I'm sorry. When did Mullen ever have the best talent in his conference and still fail to win it like Golden and Kiffin failed to win? Mississippi State is the NC State of the SEC. No history and no funding compared to what they have to compete with. They're not even a top 5 option in their own division. They're the second option in the own state most cases. Nobody in that conference has done less with more than Mullen.
